That's largely a matter of what eye relief you need to go with your shooting position and arm length. Also are you going to hunt in open county or do you need light gathering ability for the woods?
I do like that you might be stimulating Jason at Lipsey's to have a batch of .22 Hunters produced. A large Hunter gripframe would be appropriate to help keep the heavy barrel & scope up level.

Like said eye relief is everything. I have shorter arms so I always look for a scope with 15" eye relief. Most have 20". Hard to find a scope with less than 20". Usually all I could fiond was scopes made in China, they were good but not top notch scopes.

I have a leupold 2x on mine. Looks great, high quality and perfect magnification for a hunting handgun. If you go much higher than a 2x they are extremely tough to hold steady.

just a note the higher magnification the smaller field of view you have a 4 power is half the field of view of a 2 power. I learned and only use low power scopes especially if you try to hit something moving. IMHO Bob
