Buying a snub security six tomorrow blued needs a front sight any ideas? Numrich is sold out. I believe there pinned in is that correct?

There are (3) Ruger Security Six front sights on ebay as I type this. Numrich lists the same front sight for the 2 3/4, 4 and 6 inch revolvers. The sights are a buy now for $8.00, shipping is $4.00. It does not appear that there are pins with the sights. These sights are not and were not drilled for the pin. This has to be done at the time of installing the sight.

Installing a used sight can be less than ideal. The hole for the pin is drilled after the sight is in place. If the hole through the ramp or rib partially overlaps the hole in a used blade the blade doesn't wind up being as secure as it should be. That's a vote for calling Ruger rather than Numrich. Historically Numrich has been a seller of used parts.
You can also buy any of the Security Six sights that Numrich sells. Them remove your sight, lay it on the new sight, match up the ramps and tops of the sights and clamp them together. Then trace the outline of the old sight onto the new sight, unclamp them and use a file or dremel tool to take off the excess material and fit the sight to you gun. Once it fits the sight groove correctly, use a little cold blue to touch it up. Once in the sight groove, clamp it to hold it in place, use the existing pin hole to drill the new hole. Be advised, drill from one side half way through then drill from the other side to finish the hole. That way, if your drill isn't exactly perpendicular to the sight, you'll have the hole aligned properly.

I see by the website mentioned above some folks are complaining about drilling a hole for the pin. Folks, front sights have to be individually fitted to the base, due to years of manufacture.Thel said:
