ruger security compact vs Taurus G2c

I'm wondering how much difference there is between the security compact and taurus g2C, anybody own both? I have an LC9 and the Taurus I got the Taurus to have more rounds but it just doesn't carry as well as the LC9. I want to replace the LC9 so I'm thinking of an ec9s but if the security 9 compact is really smaller then the Taurus I may want to go that way. Also wondering if the holsters i have for the LC9 would work with the compact. Thank you

I picked up a Security-9 Compact and instantly knew it wasn't for me. I have a few of the Taurus' and they fit my hand like a glove and shoot every time. There's no comparison between the feel of the 2. The Ruger is a large gun with a lopped off grip frame. No thanks.

I have never held or seen a Taurus G2c. I have multiple friends that think they are the cats meow. I have shot the LC9, and thought it was great except for the single stack magazine. I have an KelTec P-11, that shoots good like the LC9, so I have no need to change out a trusted weapon, though two years ago I almost bought an LC9. We live in an unprecedented time in history, where we have so many choices! Good luck finding what works for you.

I had a Taurus PT-111 G2 (it was the precursor of the G2C). It was a nice size. My two dislikes about it were the blued finish & the trigger. I kept a thin coat of Johnson's Paste Wax on the one I had when I carried it to keep it from a rusting. I believe a stainless version is available for very little more money than the blued. The trigger on the one I had broke a really long way back. Some folks say the G2C trigger is better. I honestly don't know. It is a $200 pistol that works. I think if you dig around online you might be able to find it cheaper. I honestly don't know about prices for the Security 9 compact.

I may have missed something but I think the Security 9 compact sells for around $300. If I was going to spend that much & wanted a Ruger I would look at a SR9c or the Ruger American 9mm Compact. I saw the RAP 9C at CDNN a week or so ago for around $300. I guess it depends on how much you want to spend.

Right now you can get an SR9C for around $300.00, a far superior gun to either of those.

I bought the G2C at rural King a month ago. It was on sale for $189 and had a $25 rebate on top of that. For $164 I couldn't pass it up.
I like it, It shoots good, about 300 rounds thru it and no malfunctions, adjustable sights, 12 round mag.
I used to have an LC9 but really didn't like it so I sold it.

I think they are such a good value I picked up a couple of the Taurus. Hard to beat for the price.

There are certainly some good prices out there. Rather than buy a Security compact, I'd prefer the Ruger SR9 which is a very nice gun. I've got a couple of them and never had a problem with one. I would like to get the G2C but I had a 709 slim after sending it back it was worse than before and it was gone for over a month sold it and now Im Afraid of Taurus

I bought a G2C in December 2018, I have just south of 2000 rounds thru it and it has been flawless from day 1. I do clean and lube after every firing and carry this gun daily, I will buy another as soon as I save and can get a stainless slide, mine is black and even tho I have no rust the finish isn't that good. In my opinion the G2C is the best deal in a semi auto handgun.

The trigger was my biggest dislike about the Taurus I had. If someone were to come up with an inexpensive trigger kit for them they could probably make a fortune.

I recently got a good deal on a regular security 9, i could not hit with it as it was bad left and wouldn't group. there was something inside the chamber and barrel that wouldn't remove even with brushing. i called ruger and they did send a return label, i however sold the gun with the return label. I went and got another G2C, it shoots as good as my first and will keep it in case i need service on my first one. I still love ruger and will buy their guns again but will inspect them a little better like I do Taurus.

Keep Tinkering makes triggers for the G2C, yo can find them on Ebay or holler at him at TarusArmed.net, I have got used to my G2C trigger and will keep it factory for now. But there are options out there.

Nothing drives me more crazy than to see someone say a trigger is a terrible trigger simply because it is long or a DAO. For gosh sake, it you cannot shoot a DAO or do not want to train to learn how that is fine. The Internet propaganda with the Light triggers and short resets is getting old. I do not own the G2, but have shot one a number of times and it is a very nice trigger. And this is a EDC gun NOT a target gun. I moved to DAO and never looked back. These triggers are designed for these guns. Not just because some guy decided to just put on a long trigger. They are designed for fast action shooting and they do it very well and give you a extra layer of protection. These guns are not meant to be a aid for vanity shooting at the local indoor range.
Which gun would I get? No question the G2, one of the best deals out there. I am set with my Micro 9mm's, shoot them each week, love small barrel firearms. And with that, and after shooting both guns, would recommend the Taurus. A nice build quality and a great price for what you get. I might just get one because of this. I will also say that shooting a DAO has made me a much better shooter. Get a good DAO that is smooth, consistent and deliberate and you have ONE GREAT Trigger. Yes, some triggers are terrible, some very light striker fired triggers are Terrible triggers.

My G2C has a decent trigger. It's a long trigger pull, takes a little while to get used to it, but it's smooth.

I have a G2c from 2018 that is smooth and no catch, I now have just south of 3000 rounds thru it without a single failure. Because of the rebate I bought another on black Friday and it too does not have the catch and is smooth, I do not consider the trigger pull long as it does have take up that is long but it takes no pressure for the take up, the pull itself is crisp on both of mine. I have heard of the trigger catch on some and have heard from the same people that after several hundred rounds that the trigger smooths out, I don't know this as both mine are smooth. My trigger is consistant with break and reset with a average 3.9 lbs of pull, I am sure there are lemons out there as they are with all companies but so far I haven't got one and from what I see on you tube and in person the G2c is a winner. I own several Rugers handguns too and the triggers from Taurus are different, so if a person is used to and likes one type then another may not suit him or her.

For whatever it is worth I don't mind a double action trigger. I had a Kel-Tec P-11 that I carried for a few years. I liked it's size & capacity. It was a really long, catchy double action trigger. It felt like dragging 8 pounds down a gravel road. The little gun was accurate & shot well once I got used to the trigger. I haven't shot one of the newer G2C's. I had a PT 111 G2 & I didn't like the trigger. It wasn't the length of the trigger pull or the weight of it. I believe it was that it was inconsistent & broke way, way back. The little Taurus I had did work & was a really nice size but there are nicer pistols for not much more money.

I bought my G2C late last summer at Rural King on sale for $189 and a $25 rebate from Taurus. So I have $164 in it. I don't know of any other pistols with the same features with 2 mags for $164

The G2C trigger is "different" and sounds similar to a kid's toy gun when dry fired. I didn't expect a target gun and didn't put much effort into smooth trigger squeeze. I just kept the sights mostly in the right orientation and hauled back on the trigger. Results were not that bad. 10" x 10" swinger clanged with every shot at 50'---good enough.

Side comment.... I just bought a brand new never fired Sig p239 from a fellow member here and he gave me too good a deal on the Taurus.. P 24 something .... I shot it and it functions perfectly... but while doing this I felt I aught to add some lube to it... so I looked in the owner's manual of how to break the pistol down.... what the heck? I tried and tried to do it per the manual and finally did get the slide to come off once... but then could not get it to come off again... so I finally went on youtube and found out how.... there is a secret reverse double upside down grip you use to hold the pistol then you have to push the two iddy biddy release tabs down on both sides of the frame with two fingers (the manual does not explain that there are two tabs) then as you release the slide you pull the trigger (manual says nothing about pulling the trigger to get the slide to release) while I was on line looking for a youtube video I found Taurus's manual for that pistol and they still have not fixed these mistakes.....

I'm behind the curve on both Ruger's new striker fired pistols as well as others... but I will say if they are anything like this then I'll leave them alone... give me an old outdated 'P' series in Ruger or Sig any day.

I ran 4 magazines through the G2C today getting the POI to match POA and just breaking in. That's about all I felt like for sure. Little bugger has a snappy recoil. What I found was that after learning the right trigger technique, accurate let-off wasn't all that difficult. Even with less than perfect vision, I was able to maintain 2" groups @ 30' while adjusting the sights. The final 6 shots were alternating 4" swingers (2' lateral separation) at 15 yards at a cadence that kept both swingers in motion. I "pushed" one shot low(my fault) while the remaining 5 were hits. Being able to "stage" the trigger and let the shot off w/o a lot of twiddling CAN be done.

THIS^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Back in the day and frequently still do carry a revolver and shoot it double action. The small ones (J frame) had horrible triggers. When your life depended on it, it just worked. I can't believe the whiners can't handle the trigger on the G2c. Learn to use a gun. You can get used to anything. Years ago I remember the Semi-autos that were double action first shot, and single action after that. The weenies out there that didn't want to learn to use the gun called the first shot a "throw away." That was a complete lie. You didn't want to be standing in front of me on the first shot. I can tell you that for a fact.

A little advice. Pick a gun, learn to use it. Don't blame the gun because you don't take the time to learn it. That's on you.
