Ruger Scope Ring Question

I currently have a 3-9X40mm scope on my Ruger GSS using the factory rings.
I'm going to change the scope to a 2-7X32mm compact version.
I noticed that the rings that came with the rifle is marked "4" and "5". Are these numbers referring to their height? I want to get lower set of rings so the scope sits lower on the receiver. How do I get a set of low rings? I noticed that "4" and "5" set gives me about medium height so do I need "3" and "4" rings to get it lower?

Yes. a 3 / 4 combo will sit about 1/8" lower than the 4 / 5 combo you're using now... the good news, you only need to buy a single #3 ring.

It will get lower, and will work,,,, BUT when I did this, ended up going back to the medium height setup because the flip up/down rear sight ran interference. This could have been resolved by removing the rear sight, but then no back up. :roll:

Here are the specs in regards to height.

#3- .300
#4- .430
#5- .550
#6- .700
