My club just went thru an indoor range upgrade and now all ammo head stamped "magnum" is outlawed. Since my .41 is my favorite handgun, I switched to .41 Special and was quite pleased. It's not only a comfortable shooter, but a tack driver as well.

Although limited, there IS data available online, and Starline makes the brass.

Not at all. If I feel the need to make bigger bangs I simply walk outside to one of the 3 outdoor ranges. They are all covered and have ambidextrous benches. When it's too cold outside the "Specials" work just fine.

Nevertheless, if I really "need" to shoot a magnum round, I can go to one of the public ranges. The sad part of that is that they charge $25 an hour and you can't collect your brass for reloading.

Oh, I misunderstood. If all the ranges are on the same site and you can just go outside the building and shoot the mags then that’s great! I took it as you couldn’t shoot the Magnums anywhere on the club’s premises.

I'm not "collecting my brass for reloading" I'm removing all my personal property prior to leaving their premises. Don't want to litter up their establishment.

In my club when you are ready to leave you request that the range be made safe and then you can go up in front of the bench to sweep and do housekeeping. The .22s go in the brass barrel and the centerfires you can do anything you want with. Handgun brass rarely stays in the barrel. If you don't reload, somebody else does.

The public range is a "business". If factory ammo is not used, you must use the reloads that are sold by them. NO access in front of the bench is permitted, thus if you are ejecting forward, your brass is lost. I suppose that if you are shooting a revolver and you eject on the bench into your shooting bag nobody will complain. But anything on the floor is swept up by the range officer. THEY use the brass for their own reloads. They DO have customers, but I can't imagine why.

I understand business but that is excessive. I hope they aren't the only option.
