I have never seen so many broken rear sights before on Rugers. At one store they were broken on the display models. I pointed this out and they accused me of breaking it. I did not even handle the firearm.

Has something changed?
 
LoL! I bought a RedHawk directly from Ruger (no distributor nor LGS to muddle things up); it arrived with the rear sight broken. No broken parts on the gun box, and the box and outer cardboard box were undamaged. It was clearly broken before they put it in the plastic bag at the factory.
 
I had a GP100 returned from Ruger with a broken rear sight blade and seen them at shows with the blade deformed. Before 2017 I had never seen this.
