Does anyone know how rare a p95 DAO is? I'm assuming they were discontinued like the DC only models (Why Ruger?) . I love my p95, but wish it was a DAO, and If I could find a DAO p95 for a reasonable price I'd sure buy it. Just wondering if I could expect to ever find one.

They are hard to come by. And alot of the ones you do see are rough. Alot of them are LE trade ins and have seen heavy use. I have been trying to find a P97DAO and they seem to be a tough find also. Below is a link to a faily rough but inexpensive one on Gun Broker if you want a shooter:

If you want a nicer one just keep looking on all of the auction sites! Good luck and let me know if you find that KP97DAO! :o

I'm honestly asking this question; why would anyone want a DAO P95? The standard model is DA/SA. I understand the need for the initial shot to be DA but why wouldn't you want an SA pull after that?

My first thought...
Tend to agree with Rodney72.
I do own a standard DA...and switching from the first to second shot trigger pull...not a problem.

DEFENSE WISE..
If time would allow, I would cock the hammer so the first round has the lighter trigger pull too.

My second thought...
Have known a TON of DAO owners of several manufactures over the years.
AND THEY LOVE THEM!

Many spirited convo's of the argument of DA VS. DAO....
Taught me.....just comes down to what works best for you!

I had a Beretta 92fs and I love the SA trigger on that thing. I shot at man sized targets from 100 yards and 4 out of 10 could hit target. I'm not real crazy about the SA trigger on my p95. I'm a better shot with the DA trigger than the SA on my p95. I've put over 1000 rounds through it. Seems weird I know. I do fine with the SA trigger on my p95. I do real world practice from a draw on multiple targets from 7-10 yards and I can put two into the "chest" area of each target just putting front sight on target. So, I don't mind the DA/SA.

I did not like the DAO P series to begin with either. I figured whats the point. But after spending some time shooting and carrying the Ruger P series DAO's Ive decided that I love them. They are unique, slick sided and simple. While the triggers are a challenge to master they are not as bad as you may think. If you see one in person dry fire it a few times and tell me how horrible it is. Really. But hey different strokes and since they didnt sell I guess I'm in the minority.

What stinks is I had a chance to buy a used p89 DAO at a gunshow for $250 a year ago, but at the time I wasn't interested. I dry fired it a couple of times and the trigger was lighter and smoother than I expected.
