ruger P90

I'm looking into a p90, does anyone have any info for me. I'm trying to decide if i'm going to wait for the SR1911, or get the P90. Got an e-mail a couple of day's ago from ruger about the SR1911 coming out this month, but wo'nt say what day, teaser's. Seing how much interest they can drum up. I talked to customer service but they wo'nt say when it's coming.

I have not shot a P90 but it should be half the price of the SR1911.

If you have had any 1911 in your hand it should be like Rugers for the most part.

I'd get the P90 now and after the SR1911 craze settles down get that too if you want.

I think i will wait till later when thing's slow down a bit. I called jay's and asked them to put me on the list for one. But i then i asked them about the price, and they said upper 700 range. I think that's a bit high right now. I can wait. I priced the remington at another place and they wanted $795 for it. I want to stick with ruger.

I highly recommend the P90. If I couldn't have both, and had to take a choice, it would be the P90.

Not a thing wrong with a P90. I'd say get the P90 now, and if you decide somewhere down the line that you'd rather have the 1911, I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to get rid of. If you sold it privately (vs. a trade in to a gunshop) and didn't overpay for the P90, you shouldn't really lose any/much. It'd be worth it IMO.

Apples and oranges. You can go in a gun shop and hold any standard 1911 with a flat mainspring housing and know what the Ruger is going to feel like, you don't have to wait for it.

They're different enough you should be able to determine which you like better.

Not that it is too common of an occurrence with a hammer fired handgun, but the DA/SA mechanism of the P90 gives you the obvious advantage of an immediate second strike should the round fail to discharge. Granted it is not that common on a 1911, but it is something to consider if you are considering a P90 instead of/in addition to the SR1911.

I'm a real P90 fanboy and would recommend one without hesitation. I too would like a 1911-style pistol eventually and the Ruger version looks really nice. I think I'll let them work out any bugs inherent in a new product and let the price point settle somewhat before I make the investment. In short, my advice is to get the P90 now, while they're still availiable.
