Ruger P89 frame different?

I broke the frame on my P89 and a friend has one but my slide and barrel won't fit on his. Was a change made at some point by Ruger?

Is one a DC and the other DAO?

The 89 was the longest running P-gun and there were several slight changes. If you post pictures I might be able to help you smith it a bit.

Want to sell the leftover parts? Also how did you break the frame?? Pictures please.

Both are DC. The difference is the pivot point on the barrel and how the spring guide is made on the back end. Yeah I know those are the wrong names for them but I think you understand. BTW I ran over it with my riding mower after it fell out of my holster.

I was lucky it only chewed the frame up! didn't touch the slide or any of the other parts. Lawn mower blades didn't like the whole incident.

Don't the early P89s have the guide rod with a nipple on them and then they changed to ones that don't?

Steve is right.

If you use the barrel and guide rod from your buddies unit with your slide it should work.

Please post pictures of the frame etc though. I love the P-guns and like to swee everything on them even accidents.

I'm not so sure about that-in mid production, Ruger changed/modified the positioning of the barrel within the slide (on the newer ones, the rear of the breach breaks the slide plane, jutting slightly above it); they might have concurrently changed the architecture of the receiver, which might make older slides/barrels non-interchangeable with newer ones-or interchangeability might require gunsmithing.

I have taken an old slide (slide that uses a barrel like the 85 model) and put the newer barrel in that slide. In my experience it is the barrel to frame fit that matters most. The slides take the same barrel fit.

Hard to type what I mean here but hopefully you get the idea.
