HI people ! From Indianapolis IN. lots of good info in here. just have a question If any could give me some advice I have 2 ruger old army bp revolvers, i have installed a conversion cylinder on one of them. 45 cowboy loads are very hard to find. just woundering if the oldarmy can handle the modern 45 longcolt with jacketed round ?? any info would help. Dont want to blow it up! thanks again !

Hey,
Welcome to the form.
The ROA can handle the loads BUT the conversion cylinder will not. I also have conversion cyl from Howell and if I remember correct they say around 800FPS max. Can be lead or jacketed.
I think that the factory 45 Colt loads are low vel. so they will work in old colts.
If you reload just load up some black or a sub and go shoot it

OK! Thanks for the info, Ill Just make sure i keep the fps under 800 fps and see what happens! THANKS Hawkeye.

I have two 7 1/2 inch stainless ROAs and Howell conversion cylinders for them.
I just load with 250 grain lead bullets and Trail Boss powder. Good accuracy, good velocity and no worries about too much pressure for the conversion cylinder.
