Don't think the 45 AR will work , as I belive the rim is thicker than on the Colt, Casull and 460 brass.

I have a 460 rifle. Had problems with FTF. About 1 round out of 3. Sent back to Ruger. They "fixed" it, now it only has a FTF about 1 out of 15, vast improvement!!! :(

As a handloader, I can make my .45-70 do everything those cartidges can do (low recoil, etc.) or run loads that far exceed what they are capable of doing.

My favorite .45-70 plinking load runs 13.5g HS-6 under 300 and 350g hardcast bullets for 1167fps and 1097fps respecfully. Recoil is negligible with my Marlin 1895 and I can build them for about $2.50 a box (or could a couple years ago, haven't checked recently).

Needless to say, if it were me, I'd get a .45-70.
