Recently received an older mk 1 22 with 6in+ barrel from an old friend. I'm mainly a revolver shooter but this gun is in very new shape with adjustable sights and would like any comments about the pluses or minus of this particular piece. Thank you in advance.

Have had mine since about 1982 or 83. If your grip frame is marked A-100 under the grip panel it uses a 9 shot mag with a button on the side to lower the follower as ctgs are inserted.

Helps to have HKS Mag Loader to push the button down. Never had a problem with mine, but i'm just a plinker. Very accurate at 25 yds with High Velocity ammo, 22LR only. have hit golf balls further than that offhand with it.

It is an out of production model so I hope your friend included the manual. Can be easy to disassamble or a real PITA if not done in correct sequence.

If he did not you can still download the manual from the Ruger web site. I always do that anyway when an online manual is available. You never know when it will come in handy.

I recently bought my father in law's Mark I. They are great guns, enjoy!
