Ruger making Single Six in 32 Mag Again?

Just noticed Davidsons shows Single Six in stock in 32M/32SWL Both Blue and Stainless models, 5 1/2" Barrels. No Picture, and it doesn't say it's an exclusive, but I don't find it on Ruger's website either.

If they are .... 5 1/2" is perfect length ... I'd have to pick it up. Blued of course. But SS if no other choice.

I guess it could be another batch of clean-up guns. If they are making them again, it would be nice to see more of the adjustable sight models.

I was able to get the system to offer the stainless gun at right at $500 for a few of the shops here close by - not bad.
If you want 32 H&R Single-Sixes, better get 'em while you can. :wink:

With fiber optics adj sights and in stainless, that's a model Ruger never made before so it's not a 'clean up' gun.

I just noticed the blue version is a fixed sight model, so another Ruger never made before!

Go to the little 'block' in the upper right side of the block and click on the right arrow and it shows the description of the stainless (no photo there either)

It rankles me to no end that they brought out the blued in fixed sights but put adjustables on the stainless!!!! Argh!!!

I was obsessed at one time with the fixed sight "Vaquerito" Single Six 32H&R's, had nearly 30 of them at one point, sold them all for 3-5x what I paid originally, hence, why I no longer have them. I have two of them again now, both stainless, one's bobbed down to 2.5" barrel, I'm thinking about blending the other with a 7.5" Single 7 to make a 6" fixed sight model (have to bob it down to convert to the standard Single Six fixed blade front) - giving me a fixed sight longer barrel 7 shot 327FM.

However, I'm surprised to see them produce these - why put out a 6 shot Single Six in 32H&R when the 7 shot 327FM is out there?

If they put out another run of fixed sight stainless Single Six 32's, or Single 7 327's, then I'd own 4 of them the next day!! Anything for a fixed sight stainless Single 6/7 centerfire frame!!

I saw a picture elsewhere on the web. The blued version is basically a Single Six Vaquero, really quite nifty. It is rather intriguing these showed up--a little blue Vaquero and a stainless with adjustable rear and a fiber optic front sight?! Wonder what went into that decision?

It is intriguing.
The fixed sight version 32 Mag was marketed as a Vaquerito by Ruger, but only came with 4 5/8" barrels faux CCH frames when in blue. Most had short grips but 500 of blue and 500 stainless with standard XR3-Red size grip frames. So the 5 1/2" barrel is uncharted territory.

There weren't any 32 Mag SS models w/adj sights; many wanted them. However now Ruger has tooled up to make center fire single six SS frames for the 327 Mag 7 shot model. Again this unchartered territory was made possible to fill an old market demand niche.

Whatever went into the decision to make these, the bottom line is: an opportunity arose for Ruger to move more product out the door, it always is. Maybe to use up some old parts inventory and/or put some new variations on the market in small quantities w/o making full blown production runs. It may be a Talo request, Davidson's is one of several under the their umbrella. Talo has a 44 Mag birdshead on the large Vaq frame coming out soon thru Lipseys, and other Talo umbrella companies, a similar small volume run.

The 32 H&R Mags always had a higher front sight than their 22 single sixes, it doesn't shoot as flat. It's just obtrusive with the FO sight. They can easily be swapped for standard sights, which I prefer anyway.

Vaquerito - means “Little Cowboy”, strictly single sixes.

Even Ruger can see the error of its ways. The .44 Special is the only true small Vaquero.

It is NOT the "perfect trail gun" with the absence of CCI Shot capability. Its really not too swift for small game hunting as compared to the 22 Mag. It makes a good SASS pistol for midgets though.

The 32 owners should ask for their money back, bait and switch, false advertising?

Those sights just don't belong on a sa. Makes the gun look simply like a soulless tool. I have this .32 H&R mag (on bottom). What are they worth now days? For that matter, since I have it up, whats my old single six bring now days. I would say both are 97% or better.

I am a .44 special fan and have them in Colt, Smith and Rugers. I trust the extra cylinder wall thickness more than I do in .45 Colt. I think they are a fine woods and trail gun. I like them in smiths because they have the lighter barrel and shorter cylinder to be lighter than the 29 and 25`s in .44 mag or .45 colt respectively. For instance here is a picture of a 4" model 25-5 (45 colt) on top and my model 24-3 (44 special) below.
That little difference seems to magnify it`self.
I also think that the .32 H&R mag also makes a great trail gun. We are retired in Utah and our thing is trail riding a lot on our RZR. Since I am a collector I am apt to take various guns out. But if I had to narrow it down to one of two guns it would be between the .32 mag or a .44 special. By the way, I DO have shot-shell loads for .38, .44 special and 45. My practice is to keep a shot-shell on top for snakes and I have shot them with them. One thing I wont do again is keep a shot-shell in a CC gun. Many years ago it could have been disastrous for me. I was carrying a smith model 60 with a shot shell on top. I got in a fracas with two guys that had hit & ran me purposely repeatedly when I had them boxed up to try and get away. Finally they locked themselves in the car and didn't come out until I stupidly hit the window with the gun to get their attention. That knocked the shot capsule forward tying the gun up and I didn't know it until later.

That's a nice pair.

$500 - 600 each on any given day.

The 4 5/8" single six of your vintage would get a premium.

The short barrel .32s can get a bit of a premium.

I ordered one of the adjustable sight versions today from Davidson's. I will probably get one of the fixed sight versions at some point. The price from the cheapest shop in my area was just under $500.

I am sure I will like it. How could I not like a 32??

The single six/seven in 32/327 seems quite popular, but still production is limited to distribution exclusives only?!?!?
Why not make it a regular model to fill the gap between SS and BH??
(Of course talking from European point of view, where the Distr.Exclusives are not available 8) 8) 8) ...)
