Ruger made a Bisley 41 Mag . with 7.5 barrel ?

Before the Hunter was the first Bisley Blackhawk, 7.5", Blue, in both fluted and roll marked cylinders, the fluted was the first offered, limited in quantities , thus have a collector premium.

I don't know why I thought they were 6.5" barrels, but after I checked my .357 Bisley and it had a 7.5'' barrel I knew I was wrong. Don't know of any for sale. Good luck in your hunt for one.

I had one of those in 357 too, wish I hadn't traded it off, it was one of the most accurate revolvers I ever shot .

I have one, I bought it in the fall of 2015. I think I paid $600 for it. It looked to be shot but not very much. Very accurate and fun. So far I've got about 800 or 900 rounds through it. I'll post some pictures when I get home.

Here is mine. I think the Ruger Factory grips are either cocobolo or the pau fauerro (not sure how to spell them sorry.) But as you can see, it isn't a fluted cylinder, which I think would look so much better.

I have also gotten into the habit of keeping better records. I bought this 12/05/15 and paid $629. Like I said, it looks to be shot very little. So with tax it was around $660 out the door. Box and manual included. Maybe more than I should have paid, but that means I'll just have to keep it longer.

I have had a couple of the fluted guns over the years but all have moved on to new homes. The first one got sent to Mr. Bowen to get his Perfected Bisley package then off to Roy Fishpaw for some walnut grips.

Does anyone know how many of those older Blackhawk Bisleys were made in 41 ? I would love to find one , do they turn up much at gun shows , or on the net ?

I have one with the unfluted cylinder I acquired in 2002. To quote John Taffin from his book, Big Bore Revolvers,"The Ruger Bisley .41 Magnum is the most accurate .41 he has shot and they are harder to find than an honest politician". I can find no fault with that statement. I have seen 2, mine and another one! Bob!! :mrgreen:

They pop up on GunBroker semi-frequently. There was an unfluted one on there a couple of weeks ago, but just checked and it's gone. They don't last long, but I've seen them sell on GB anywhere from $400 up to $695. A few years ago, I bought from John Gallagher on GunBroker, a like new unfluted model that he had taken in on a trade and did an action job on it for just $400. Steal!

RB 41 for the fluted and RB 41W for the roll marked.
All blued Bisley Blackhawks started with 7.5" barrels.

And while it's true they are fairly rare, esp. the fluted model, they do come up more often than one would think. Last year, I saw 2 fluted 41 Bisleys and at least 5 roll marked ones come up on GunBroker and I probably missed some. Also when searching GunBroker, you can search "Ruger Bisley" or "Ruger 41 Bisley", but don't forget to just search through the ones identified simply as "41 Blackhawk". That's how the frame is marked and some uninitiated folks don't know it's a Bisley when they advertise them. Good luck in your search--keep looking, one will pop up soon.

Yes they are out there. It may take so time but you can find them. I have both fluted and un-fluted in 41 mag as well as both in 357 mag.

I saw that one but I have a hunch it was a standard blackhawk someone converted to a bisley. Either that or they cut the barrel to 6 1/2" like the normal blackhawk and had it ported. Still a nice fluted cylinder gun if you don't mind the shorter barrel.

As Robb suspects, pic 9 shows the box label clearly indicating it being shipped as a regular 'ol BN-42 6.5" Blackhawk. Whoever fitted the bisley frame did a pretty good job, though. If it not being a "factory" bisley is OK, go for it. Also check the barrel pics; the seller claims Magnaport, but not sure if it is genuine Magnaporting or a knock-off job. Sent a note to the seller for clarifications, but no reply yet.

Just a thought, but I saw a couple of the RB-415W 41 mag bisleys in stainless on Gunbroker. 5.5" barrel, rollmarked cylinder. I was surprised to see those. Haven't seen any stainless .41's for a while. Just fyi

Except the .41 hunter models. I had forgotten about those. I actually owned a RB-41W with the 7.5" barrel several years ago. It was one of a hundred or so that Davidson's had. Supposedly a Ruger clean up run. It had a 1-16" twist rate, which was faster than normal for Ruger .41's. Still not quite sure why I sold that one off. Lapse in judgement I suppose. Was a really good shooter.

Right on. However, I started laughing while reading "This is a very rare and hard to find revolver.". As for magnaporting, IMHO the one and only reason to justify this if shooter has a health issue and even moderate recoil could be the problem. Otherwise, waste of money on 41 Magnum, especially Bisley, and ruined revolver.

Updated with a reply from the seller. My email first, then his response. Doesn't seem to deny it may not be a "factory" Bisley, but seems OK with letting potential buyers being deceived. Buyer beware.

"Hello, pic #9 showing the box label indicates this gun was shipped as a BN-42 which is a regular 6.5" Blackhawk with the regular plow handle grip. Also, every large frame Bisley was shipped with a 7.5" barrel and the part # for the 41 fluted Bisley is RB-41, not BN-42. The Bisley parts on this gun seem to have been added later. As much as it appears whoever added them did a great job, you may run into issues if the eventual buyer tries to have this gun verified by Ruger and it fails. Just an FYI, trying to help out. I own 4 of the fluted and 3 of the rollmarked 41 Bisleys and like them a lot. Again, I'm not trying to harm your sale, just offering some insight and info to help. Good luck with your sale. Shane"

I too contacted the seller and explained what he was selling and he decided to modify his listing tostate that based on the box, it may well have started as a regular gripped 41. Good for him.
