Ruger logic baffles me sometimes

Just looking at the Ruger web site at their current offerings and it seems like I always find something there that defies my logic. No real deal breakers here just guns that are so close to perfect except for one thing. Then they don't carry the same logic from one product line to the next. Is it just me or is Rugers logic a little off sometimes?

How come the Alaskan revolvers have adjustable sights? Yet the 3 inch GP100 is not offered with adjustable sights.

Even worse in my mind is how come the Alaskan has a 2.5in barrel, but the shortest GP is only 3in?

Sorry for the rant, I guess Ruger can't make everybody happy at once, but they are not even consistent. Seems like they miss alot of oportunitys. Ed

Just consider that they are 'all wise' and we are mere consumers of their product. Occasionally they listen and respond directly to consumer feedback (like the 44 specials) but usually they decide what to make based on a complicated formula that we are not privy to. :D :D

I wish they'd bring the .32 h&r mag back in a 4" SP101 and a 4 3/4" adjustable sight Single-Six. or even the 4" GP100 in a 7 or 8-shooter. probably none of that is gonna happen, ever.

The SRH has a 2-1/2" barrel because that is where the frame ends, simple. As far as a sub 3" GP100, why when there is a 2" SP101. The hardest thing to hide on a gun is the handle and not the barrel. I don't even see any sense to having a 2" GP100, but that IMHO.

4" GP100 in a 7 or 8-shooter.

You can't fit 8 holes in a GeeP, not in .357 anyway. There was another discussion about the possibility of 7, which I doubt can be done without opening up the frame for a larger cylinder to keep the strength for heavy loads. Just not practical.

Now, a 5 hole 44 Special would have me first in line.

I meant in the .32. I'd really prefer it in the smaller frames anyway.

I've always wanted a .32, kind of. It always seems to get back burnered for something else. One day.

the advantage of them, if you're a handloader, is lots and lots of cheap ammo and a fun low-recoil round. HP38 or Bullseye + a 90-100 g lead boolet = plenty of pop and lots of shooting for cheap. I'm a big .32 fan, especially the H&R, it just hasn't ever really caught on like it should.

I'd expect HS-6 would also work. I load, but don't cast, and have been going back and forth over the .32/.327 or a .30 carbine.

An Alaskan with a 3" barrel and fixed sights would be a sweet gun! Personally, I prefer fixed sights on handguns.

I'd like to see a Blued 45colt Bisley with 5.5"bbl.
All so blued versions of theyre 1911 guns.

I know this is the revolver forum but it is along the same topic.

They offered the 1S in 300WM with a 22" barrel. LOL! that rifle will be a blast to shoot. Pun intended.

Good points, thanks. Ed.

I've been trying to understand the logic behind all the new 22's they keep introducing, I know they have a following but there are lots of people like me that don't have any interest in a small cal gun.

People are diverse.
Opinions vary.
Desires are different for lots of folks.
No manufacturer can make everyone happy 100% of the time.
Many of us are happy with what they offer.
Custom shops fill the niches that the manufacturers leave open.

But you would be surprised how many people (by far the largest majority) prefer adj. sights on an SA (besides cowboy shooters), even though they never adjust them except maybe after the first firing.
Kinda like the idea of a convertible Single-Six. There are so many people who have one, but have barely shot the .22 Mag out of their gun if at all. But Ruger found on two occassions in history that offering an LR only Single-Six was not a very good idea. They did it in 1986 for a few months and decided that was something they should not have repeated! Everybody just likes the added value of things like an extra cylinder, or adj. sights.
And then you would have the high tooling costs of making a fixed sight Super Redhawk....which I'll bet Ruger doesn't get many requests.

You'd have to beat me. I'm still young and strong and got a fast horse.

I'm sure they are squirting out all the injection moulded guns they can, as fast as they can at the present time!
I'll never understand WHY they did a 4 inch SP101 in 357, when a 327 would have been a much more logical choice!

How about the logic of no more Vaqero's in 44mag.? or a good DA revolver, I'm so tired of the rubber grip thing, I want a nice DA 44 mag.with 3 or 4 inch barrel and wood grips, a 357 would nice also.

I would like a GP100 in Fed Mag with a 6" or 8" barrel. See what that round can do at long range. I'd also like a date with Scarlett Johansson. I'm not holding my breath for either one.
