I just bought a new Ruger LC-9 and went to the Range,The Pistol performed Flawlessly and is very accurate, I put 100 rounds through it and did not have any problems with feeding the Bullets(Factory and Reloads).
The Sights are good and pretty easy to see, The only downside I found is the long Trigger Pull,You have to pull the Trigger almost to it's full travel before it Fires. There is a Company that makes a Trigger Bar Replacement that shortens the Trigger Pull by about half and when it is in Stock I will buy One to see how it works but all in all I would say this is a very good concealed carry gun.

I'd be very interested on how the modification works for you. Shortening the travel would be nice but it seems a necessary mechanical trade off would be a heavier trigger. Please post your results once you've made the mod and tried it out.

I believe that the OP is referring to the modification offered by Galloway (http://gallowayprecision.com/ruger-performance/lc9-performance-parts/). You have to send your hammer and trigger bar in for modification, as Ruger will no longer sell the hammer and trigger bar separately.

I sent my parts in for modification a few days ago. Before doing so I read what I could find on the web about the modification. No one mentioned a heavier trigger pull. The only negative thing I found was a report or two of light primer strikes after the mod. This apparently was due to a heavier firing pin return spring in older LC9s. This was causing some misfires in unmodified LC9s and Ruger started using a lighter spring in later guns. Galloway offers a lighter firing pin return spring along with the mod for owners of the older guns.

By the way, removing the parts from the LC9 was simple and easy. Galloway has an excellent instructional video on his web site showing exactly how to do it.

I really like the little LC9, but the long trigger pull causes me problems. I have long fingers, and during the final few fractions of an inch of the trigger pull the trigger tends to slide into the first joint of my finger. When this happens I can't easily pull the trigger that last fraction of an inch without repositioning my finger. The Galloway modification should solve this problem for me.

I don't feel comfortable sending any Parts to Anyone as They may get lost and then I'm out a Gun until I could find new parts so I guess I will wait to see if They become available first before I take a chance on sending Them to the Company for modification.

I can understand your trepidation. I sent my parts by first-class mail, got a tracking number and was able to track them all the way to Galloway. Galloway emailed me a tracking number when he returned them, also by first-class mail, and I tracked them back to me. It took a total of 8 days from putting them in the mail to Galloway to having them back in my mailbox.

I just finished putting the LC9 back together. The Galloway modification made a HUGE difference in trigger pull. It's now the way Ruger SHOULD have made it! :) The modification turned the LC9 from a weapon which was destined to spend its life locked in my gun safe into a shooter. It won't replace my Glock 39 .45 GAP as my main concealed-carry piece, but now I would feel confident in using it in a self-defense situation.

I just bought a LC9, manual states not to use +P+ ammo...has anyone used the +P+ ? Not a steady diet of it but a carry load?

Thanks

I have not used it but I understand it is not recommended as it causes premature wear to the Firearm.

While you don't want to feed your LC9 a steady diet of +P ammunition, it doesn't hurt to shoot a magazine or 2 of +P from time to time. I shot 2 magazines of Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel 9mm Luger +P 124 grain jacketed hollow points through my LC9 when I first got the pistol to test functional reliability. This ammo fed and ejected fine, and is what I use when I conceal carry the LC9.

And speaking of concealed carry:

I have to take this back. I like the LC9 so much after the Galloway trigger work that I've started carrying it in place of the Glock. The LC9 is lighter and thinner than the Glock, and I can shoot 2" groups at 10 yards with it. What more can you ask of a CC weapon?

Thanks all
I have a box of Black Talon I can use, but I just was wondering about the +P+

I finally decided to buy the Galloway Trigger Bar and installed it Myself.
After a few set backs like dropping small parts I did manage to reassemble My Ruger lc-9.
What a difference the new Bar makes,It's like a different Gun as far as Trigger release goes.
I can recommend this upgrade fully.
Also there is a step by step video on YouTube on how to do it. It really helped Me.

Glad you like it. For those interested, Galloway has excellent how-to videos on his web site -- see http://gallowayprecision.com/how-to-videos/

I was about to order the Galloway trigger bar, but as usual, I screwed around too long, and it appears that it's now sold out with no mention of a date when it will be re-stocked. Also, Eric has a note on his website asking people not to send e-mails about the LC9 trigger kit.

Anyone have any more info on this kit?

Guys, there's a whole thread on it...
