Ruger kmk Government Model

I got lucky today and scored a Ruger government model in SS at Jaquas Fine Guns. I have always heard that these are the best of the best Rugers out of the box and this one is so nice I am not going to shoot it. With a little detail work, this one will be flawless. It has not seen much action. When we got it today my Dad said he hasn't seen me smile this much since last Tuesday when we found the kp 514T we were looking for. The previous owner even used Hoppe's #9 and it smelled like it belonged to me. Hi my name is Doug and I think I have a new addiction to Ruger handguns.

If you paid the $295 on the tag, I'd say you did very well.

$295?? WTF?? :shock: I'm in the wrong state, I never see prices like that on MKIIs in that condition, blue or otherwise :(

If it's seen any action at all, why not show it some more? Thing was meant to be shot :D

Awesome price and nice gun. I have a couple and they are very good shooters. Get some VQ internals and Sam's hammer bushing installed and your ready to go!

I got my Mk ll SS Competition Target about a year ago from a local guy. I love the pistol but have been wondering about the Govt. model...are they more accurate? I've been shooting on a team for about a year now. Is the Govt. model a serious upgrade? Just curious -- I figure practice, patience, and time is the best remedy. BTW, while I'm no sharpshooter (I'm an "older" guy -- 49 that is new to the sport), my scores have improved dramatically since last year...195 to 250), but I want to make that leap to the 275-ish sphere for next year. Basically, is there a measurable difference between the Govt. and run-of-the mill comp target?

You've done real good. I bought my 6-7/8 Gov't Target model in 1995. I can't speak about you not shooting yours.

Nonetheless, my baby has fired over 30,000 .22 LR cartridges since I first bought it. It is as accurate now as it was from the first day I bought it. I suspect it will be just as accurate for my grandson 30 years from now.
