The Ruger web site has an inexpensive ($38) Triple K holster available for the Blackhawk. Any opinions on these holsters?

Buy something leather and never look back! :D

FWIW, a Simply Rugged or Bianchi 1L is very nice for the $ spent. Nylon holsters are right up there with rubber grips.

The Triple K holster is leather with a thumb break. I like the Bianchi 1L, but have heard that the tall front sight on the Blackhawk doesn't fit in it well. I am hoping someone that has actually seen one of these would give their opinion. The price is certainly right.
I am not into cowboy gear. A simple open bottom trail/woods holster that will always be worn strong side is all I want.

I just picked one up for my Single Six. For the money it seems like a decent holster but I have not had a chance to use it at all. The fit is good and tight, and the stitching is done well. The thumb break seems kinda flimsy and has a thin steel backing. I would like to see a thong instead of the thumb break. This will do me until I get an El Paso.

$3 for a holster? Do you expect anything above junk at that price? Seriously, unless you really cheap out on the gun, why cheap out on the holster you'll keep it in? Be like parking your Ferrari in some canvas tent.

I have a couple and they are good value for the money. They fit the gun well and should last a long time. They have a forward (FBI) tilt which I don't care for. A good field / camping holster. A good belt helps the packing. If it comes from Ruger it is good quality. :D :D

Thanks for the opinions. When I typed the original post the price showed up correctly, but the $38 price changed when it arrived on the forum. How does this happen?

I have several leather holsters and gun belts from Triple-K. They are a good family-owned company, good service, and their products are very-well made. I'll bet you'll like what you get.

Can't comment on the Blackhawk holster, but I have one for my Bearcat.
It came with a very tight fit. I steamed it, put the gun in it and left for 2 days. Perfect fit now. Leather has a scar in it, but I can live with it for $38...I'm sure I'll beat it up over time.

If you type ( $38 ) without the spaces you end up with ($38) because 8 ) without the space is the smilie for the cool guy with sunglasses. :D 8) :D

8) Thanks for clearing that up for me. 8)

Thanks to all for the opinions on the Ruger Triple K.

The only thing about Triple-K leather goods is that their "walnut" color is actually "Ox Blood".... it has a deep maroon or wine color. It's not displeasing, it was just a surprise the first time I ordered/rec'd it. Their "tan" is more natural, should that be what you truly desire.

Can't go wrong with a Bianchi 1L. I prefer a Threepersons style holster for a single action. This is a 44 special in a Bianchi 1L.

Just a FWIW if'n somebody is reading this and is looking for a good leather holster for their single actions or some double actions...

You gotta check out the Galco SAO and DAO's.

I have them for my 6.5" Single Six and Blackhawk's and a 7.5" Super Blackhawk, also for a 4" S&W 686+.

Beautiful quality, fit and finish. Guns fit perfectly. The biggest advantage to me is the ability to wear the holster crossdraw as well as strongside.

Cost a couple bucks but worth it. Good deals and free shipping from Optics Planet.
