Ruger HKM77RW

What is the deal with the Ruger HKM77RW, this is a Hawkeye with stainless barrel and action in a walnut stock. I happened to stumble across one on gunbroker which sold NIB for $499 I would kill for one of these in 30-06 or 270 win but am having trouble even finding any info about them. Anyone know when they were produced, in what calibers, and why ruger doesn't offer them or even show them on their site anymore?

You could always buy an All Weather and put a walnut stock on it from Ruger.

They were a special distributor model from Williams Shooter's Supply. Here's what I have on them from my reference:

HKM77RW Special Distributor models. .270 (Ruger model 7186 – 279 ordered from 2007 through 2008) and .30-06 (Ruger model 7187 – 28 ordered in 2007). A total of 307 of both models ordered from 2007 through 2008 for Williams Shooter’s Supply (IL).

Looks like somebody got a great deal on a rare gun! At $499 NIB what was anybody waiting for???

Acusport may have also received a few of these in .35 Whelen...again from the reference:

HKM77RW .35 Whelen special distributor model. Although it was reported in 2008 that Ruger distributor Acusport would receive a quantity of 50 of this model, it is not known if they were actually produced.

Possible but not economical. Used walnut in decent shape isn't cheap and they don't come along very often. Factory wood from Ruger is pushing $300.

Just picked up a NIB M77R Hawkeye blue and walnut in 35 whelen but would love to have one of the HKM77RW's in stainless and walnut to go with it.
