If I did not already have one, and had I seen this before Gregg, I would have taken it. A very fair price. It is a C&R and can be shipped to a C&R FFL holder.
Now if there was some ammo?
Happily, I have dies and formed brass on hand from my other .256 WM’s. I even have maybe 50 pieces of actual .256 brass… but my hand formed from .357 Magnum brass has worked fine. In the Contender barrel anyway… I don’t think I’ve ever fired the Marlin Levermatic. I really should pass it on to somebody else… my eyesight makes rifles difficult. For handguns, I just use my dominant master eye, the left one. I’m right handed but my right eye had retinal bleeding… it’s total frustration to try to shoot a rifle. And I’ve tried to learn to shoot a rifle left handed… I can do a fair job from a bench… but in the field at a moving animal… no way… pointless.

I too have a Marlin Levermatic in .256. I plan to put a scope on mine and try it out. I have loading dies, original brass, and some vintage factory ammo. I plan to try it all out soon.
Congratulations on a great buy of a fine pistol.

I've got a scoped Marlin 56. I had one ages ago and sold it due to the high price I got. Keeping the one I have now because it is FUN and VERY accurate. In the old days, extra mags were very low in price from Numrich. Keep in mind that it's the same mag for 30 Carbine or 256.

I have both 30 Carb & 256 Mag in the Marlin model 62 lever gun......Very accurate and VERY short stroke!!
