The other day I picked up some grips for a Ruger 22 semi auto. I'm not sure which pistol they fit. The standard, MK I, MK II or MK III. On the inside they are marked A-8 R and A-8 L. I would appreciate any info. Thanks!
Here's a page from a very early Ruger manual. You can plainly see that the left grip panel is marked A8. Now, to determine if you have an A54 or an A100 grip frame, we need to know which grip panel has the bottom screw hole, higher than the one on the other panel. In other words, if the right grip panel has the bottom screw hole higher than the one in the left panel, you have A54 grips, if the left grip panel has the bottom screw hole higher than the right grip panel, you have A100 grips. Does this make sense?
The A8 grips fit the A54 frame, as shown in the schematic above, with eagle in the left hand panel.
So you would need a gun serial numbered 11-40000 and earlier.
Later plastic grips are marked A-108.
