Ruger compact 6.8spc

I know that I want one. I have an AR in 6.8 it shoots very well. I have a TC G2 in 6.8 and it shoots 1.5 inches at 100 yards. Ammo is not cheap but I can buy Hornady for $20 or less a box. I wish one was offered in a standard M77. The compact seems like a great match. I have not fired on. Anyone out there shot one?

I have one and only shot it testing ammo. It was new in the box when I bought it. Put a good scope on it and shot groups.
If you don't mind 2 shot groups, then mine would be great. From a cold barrel, the first two shots will either touch or almost touch. BUT, that third shot goes out of that first two shot group every time. Usually, making a 3 or 4 shot group that will be about two inches. Just the first two are good.
Of course, it is a hunting configuration with the very light weight barrel and very short overall length. I bought one because I collect M77's plus I have two AR's in the 6.8 and really like the cartridge.
Have not hunted with it, and probably will not. I prefer to keep it in as new condition. After finishing my testing, the scope came off, it got cleaned and put back in the box.

Oh - so far, the only ammo I have shot decent groups with, either an AR or the M77 was Hornady. The other brands have not shot groups as small.

Thanks for your input. I am glad to find another 6.8 nut here. I have a mini, a compact 77 and a custom #1 is on the way.
Unfotunately, no range time yet. But that day is coming. Hpe they all do as well as yours.

Both AR's will usually group less than an inch at 100 with the Hornady. I have looked at the Mini before and held a couple, but couldn't cough up the dough to get one. Let me/us know how it shoots once you do.

It will get a lot of attention as it is about as close to a TAC rifle as I care to go in a #1. The dyed in the wool #1 collectors will get the tizzies reeal bad over this one. I may have to go into hiding.
