I purchased a Ruger Bisley 32 H&R Mag w/Fixed Sights, at 25 yds the gun shoots 4 to 5" high. Doesn't appear the front sight has been altered, front sight is attached with a screw and can be replaced. I'm having trouble ordering a higher front sight, most bases are to long and hang over the muzzle. Any Ideas?
 
Is the current front sight steel? If so, you could just cut the blade off and TIG or silver solder a new blade on, and then file it to a shape you like.

I suppose you could get a new front sight and trim the base back so it fits.

How long is the barrel? How tall as the front sight currently? Picture?
 
It sounds like you have a .22 caliber front sight on your .32.
The .32 front sights are taller and I highly doubt you will be able to find one out there. Everybody will tell you there the same but they are not.

1. You can get a Adjustable Sight Guns Front Sight Body and make the correct front sight w/ the correct height.

-OR-

2. Have your current front sight milled off, plunge cut, and a custom blade made and pinned in. Like Ruger does stainless guns.

-OR-

3. Get a little piece of Brass flat stock, solder it on and then file in to accurate.

I have done all three of these soultions and # 2 is MY preferred method but this will take a Milling Machine, or a good Gunsmith.

Your probably going to need some height measurements. Lets see if others come up with them over the weekend, as I am away till next week.
 
You say the front sight is held on by a screw. Sounds like the same sight that is used on the Single Six stainless.22. I would order a new sight from Midway ,Brownells or Ruger and have it modified as suggested by G2. That way you keep the factory sight in tact and a quick screw removal to change out is all that is needed. A pinned in solid blade is the way to go.
 
I think it 2Dogs that has a custom front sight for 32 Magies that is taller then most. Search the classifieds here.
 
The 2Dogs front sight is spot on for adjustable Single-Sixes. For a fixed sight 32 I'd probably unscrew the factory blade and dovetail the barrel. Definitely more work but it's a better match to the classic drift rear.

Lee you are correct, that is the exact model I have. I called Ruger yesterday, I ordered the correct front sight from them, they had it in stock and will ship it to me. Still not sure if the sight on it is the correct one. I measured it and the blade only is .155, makes me think it is the correct one, I saw on a web site the 22lr front sight is .125, I'll know when my Ruger package arrives. I also tried swapping a sight from my adjustable sight Single six,other 32cal single six's and even my Mark II's the sight base is longer and using the original screw hole leaves the sight extending over the end of the barrel. The only way those sights would work is to redrill the barrel.
 
The front sight on Lee's gun above looks like .155" because it appears to be right about the same height as the base which measures .158". So your .155" sight may be the correct one and the same as what you'll be getting from Ruger.

But hopefully you've got a higher sight coming from Ruger. All my 22 adj sighted single six front blade heights measure .210" + or minus. So the .125" (1/8") in the website you read is way off. My 32 adj sighted single six front blades measure .310" + or minus.

The sight on the Mark III I linked to above is the correct length for your gun and looks plenty high if the one from Ruger is still too low.
 
Yes the wait is, but worse is when the wait is for no reason. I'm thinking this may be the case. I'm betting I'll get the same sight that is on the gun. Still love the gun/cal.
 
Final Update Bisley 32H&R shooting 5/6" high at 25yds.I finally purchased a replacement front sight from Ruger, sight arrived, same exact sight. I built up front sight with J B Weld and shaped it. I kept filing it down until POI is exactlyy where I want it at 25yds with shooting my load of 100gr SWC Cast, Trail Boss. Now too find something to finish front sight/J B Weld,I could cold Blue the steel but the J B Weld needs something else. I kept the original sight to return revolver to original.
 
I have the same fix sight 32 mag as pictured by Lee Martin. You said your final sight height after J B Weld is .187, well the height on mine is .187. Mine is extremely accurate for an old man ha ha.

Well what Okie69 said is kind'a disappointing. Apparently Ruger had correct height sights at one time when the guns were in production.

No matter, you have yours fixed now. I suggest painting the blade with model airplane dope, flat black. It's a tough paint. I've used it before and also the orange for just the rear edge.
