I'm wondering if anyone can point me to a list of the numbers of the different barrel lengths manufactured in .357 and .45 of the old early 2000's years birdsheads. I see a lot of the short 3.75" 'Sheriff' length , but am wondering about the numbers manufactured of the longer barrels 4.62" and 5.5" and if ANY longer?.

D.

The single-six in 32HR used the same birdshead grip frame as on the Vaquero . I've never seen anything longer from Ruger factory longer then 5.5" barrel . The birdshead frame fits my hand perfect and I love them , but anything longer then the 4.62" don't work for me . Here is the ones I built , Ruger never make birdshead in 32-20 or 44-40 , or 44-40 sheriff model .

Thanks, good picture.
I see quite a few of the SS 32H&R birdsheads at shows. Usually a good deal, but I have no interest in them. I want a gun I'll actually be able to find ammo for. I think dealers are sitting on them for this reason and can't sell them for the usual over-pricing on the old birdshead models.
I wonder how the John Waynes are selling?
I think my blue/cch 4.6" .357 mag birdshead will really fill out my Vaquero/Montado collection for now. Much CHEAPER and easy to buy .38 spec than .45 colts!!
Note to those looking for .44 mag old Vaqs, shorter Redhawks, .44 Bisley Vaq. and .32 Birdsheads and Montado in .45 and .357. My dealer I've bought this one, and several from, has them. I've told him several times he needs to be on the Ruger groups because guys are crying for them. Yesterday he had both montados, 3 various lengths bl/cch .44 mag Vaquero , one Bisley bl/cch .44 mag Vaquero, a .32 birdshead, a 5.5" redhawk and something I had to ask about, a 4.62" NEW VAQUERO in .45 blue with CCH? I had never seen a new vaq. in cch. He said he only had one! All were priced fairly in my mind, especially the older .44 mags in bl/cch. One had the faux ivory grips.
I overpaid for the .357 4.62" birdshead in bl/cch. I knew this, but.....try to find one never fired!

Note to .41 mag lookers...if you don't reload....pass!
I've recently passed on a couple nickle S&W .41mags after finding NO shells at several shows, new or reloads

the 357 birdhead/4 5/8 bbl is very hard to find in the real world. one went off on auctionarms a year or so ago, and brought a very healthy price. i can't remember exactly how much, but it went way past my comfort level! i didn't even get to put in a bid! i saw one recently at a gunshow for 500.00, but the case colors looked very worn. and i didn't try to bargain with him any. i like them. i would like to eventually find one i can actually buy! it really does seem like a perfect caliber for actual shooting, especially if you are limited to factory ammo. the only way i can afford to shoot 45lc is by reloading.

ruger made the blue/cch new vaq for several years. they switched to all blue in the last couple of years.

Hmmmm, I thought the blue/cch Vaqs were dropped when the NEWs came out. The dealer said there were very few with the cch, but, I never really paid much attention to the blued new vaqs.

You probably should have spent the $500 on the .357 4 .6" unless the cch was really bad. I'm astounded what the older Vaqs are going for, in fact, I'm AMAZED at what the new birdshead .22 convertables seem to be selling for!!! Some at $700. Jeez, I see COLT blue/cch .22 convertables for less than that at every gun show, usually in the $500-$600 range. Some never fired. thats sure a nicer gun IMO.

Here's a nice one!

Start at $900.....I dunno?
