As has been mentioned before, prices run regionally.

Here in Philly, AR556s go for around $650.00 or slightly higher at the shows.

I got mine in 2015 for just under $700.

My LGS has then for $489. I've been watching AR prices drop for the past 60 days. Some as much as $150 in that time.

In my estimation, $479 is getting down closer to what they're actually worth. Heck, if they drop another $100 I may buy one myself. .

Guess I got a hell of a deal; bought mine at Vances on sale for $499 during Ruger days. I love mine for several reasons, not necessarily accuracy related although I do pretty good if I do say so myself. One of course is the similarity, action wise to my ol Viet Nam sidekick, without the inherent problems. Of course it does't hurt that I'm Ruger crazy. I think the enjoyment level is directly related to not only what you use the rifle for but also who you use it around, kinda like weekends going out to the kids farm and having at it. There's more expensive one's out there for sure but if it does what ya wanted one for then have at it and have fun. Just my two-cents bubba.
