Hello All,

I have a 5 shot Ruger Alaskan 480. I've done some research and have seen where a few people have commented that only 23 were produced. Is this a accurate number? If so does anyone know what the value of one might be? Thank You

Value… at one time "early" in the process they did bring big money. Now the current model, out in 6 chamber cylinder, and a recent production run, tends to bring the crazy down.

Its going to take the one guy that's got the " I gotta have its" to aquire the premium for the 5 chamber. FWIW: I saw one bring $2,200 back in the day. I wanted one but went with a 454/45, trading a nice early Stainless Old Army Collector for it. Both valued at ~$750 (circa 2010)

Recently the current (6 chamber) we're bringing ~$1500, with the recent production run they can be found ~$1k.

Great Property!

Around 21 guns made around 2001 I believe. Known (reported) Serial # range, 530-03115 - 530-04868.
Does your gun have the Southport or Newport Warning Roll mark and does the rear sight have the Ruger logo?

Have you lettered it with Ruger Records?
Terry

Thank you!!! My gun has the Southport stamping and was made in 2008 according to Ruger's serial # look up. My rear sight does not have a the Ruger logo on it from what I can tell. I have not lettered it yet with Ruger Records. I called them and asked if the letter would state that it was a 5 shot and the lady told me no. So after that I didn't pursue it.

Get the letter.
Attach a letter of your own asking for verification of what you seek.
It's possible the model number may indicate 5 shot or somehow be different than the 6 shot. I'm not certain of that but goodness …. The letter is $10.00 not $100.00 or more they scalp you for at S&W or Colt.

Does your s/n fall in that range TA Workman posted?
Does the s/n lookup on line provide model number?
If so, what is it?

Appreciate the reply! Think with the holidays right here I'll have to wait until January to have the available funds for a new purchase. Thanks 🙏🏻

You seem very knowledgeable, by any chance could you give me a generalization about how many 6 cylinder versions may have probably been produced (even a guess?)

Thanks again

I'm not the authority but thank you,
Many thousands have been made in 44, 454 and 480 combined.
Been made since 2005 so almost a 20 year run already,
First s/n was 530-00001 and right now on Gun Broker s/n 530-66648 in 480 is for sale. So, 70,000-plus?

The 5-shot .480 Alaskan has a different model number, 5304.
The standard 6-shot .480 is model 5302.
So tell us what your gun shows up as on Ruger's serial number lookup page.... we are in suspense.
And does it fall within the serial number range that was noted in this post?

I agree it's awesome, I assume he'd be looking to sell and I'll go top dollar cash. 👍🏻

Please message me directly, I'll top anyone else's offer. I'd truly like to purchase it.

You're correct about the 5304 model number designation. 82 total were manufactured.

Serials
530-04400 to 530-04431 (32)
530-04474 to 530-04499 (25)
530-04501 to 530-04521 (21)
530-04533 to 530-04536 (4)

Only notable exclusion is serial 530-04500 which is listed in the Ruger Serial DB registry as a .454 Casull yet the firearm serial itself was used in promotional images (pictured below) with a .480 frame/cylinder which could have made sense as a serial registry error in theory, but is quite obviously using a digitally altered final "0" at the end of the serial #. The DB listing it specifically as a .454 Casull seems accurate.

A quantity of 82 Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan in .480 5rd "5304" were produced exclusively in the year 2008.

All serials listed above are factually correct.
