ruger 77/357

Need some information on this rifle/caliber. Any game taken with it.
Ammo type, reloads, etc. Scoped, open sights, good to what range?

Do you have one (77/357) yet? I bought one from a friend and look forward to playing with it. I've had and enjoyed a 77/44 but sold it for some reason, probably to buy something else. Both are great rifles.
I figured my son's and grandsons would burn up all my 38 Spl and 357 ammo I've accumulated over the years.
Might use it on deer and coyotes.

I think I will pass on the 77/357. Will stay with what I have.
I am down sizing. For the last three years the pronhorn antelope I have harvested have all been 100 yds or less. I hunt the end of season, and like to get close. This fall was about 50 yds. Right now the 243 win. is my go to hunting rifle.

I just finished a hunt in Ohio with my 77/357. I took a 115 pound doe and a 180 pound 8 pointer. I was using Hornady Leverevolution 140 grain Flex tip factory ammo. Both deer were shot at 50 yards. The doe was hit through both lungs on a perfect broadside shot. She trotted 20 yards and dropped. The buck was quartering toward me and hit in the front shoulder. He tumbled down a bank and I hit him again through the chest to anchor him. He lived less than 10 seconds from the first shot.
I was wondering if the little cartridge would be up to the task, but was amazed at how well it kills with a well placed shot.
