Beautiful gun. Eric

Sea bass's gun is not a 5232...his is a 5235...it is the Bisley with a 5.5 barrel.

Eric - I love the looks of that gun so I bought it. The only snag was that it's illegal to sell that gun (Which my FFL dealer would technically do with is $35 handling fee) and it's illegal to purchase/own it in Massachusetts.

So it's once again for sale.

I expound further in a pm I sent you.

I'm still heartbroken about losing this "Distributer Exclusive". I'm doing what I can trying to ferret out a standard model that THE STATE deems "compliant", comrade.

Just trying to help out the OP:

Well one thing you could consider, is buy the Mass. legal 5232 w/5 1/2" barrel and install a Bisley grip Frame and you can have your legal clone of a 5235. Or look for a 5232 someone has already converted to a Bisley grip.

Gentlemen;

I have a 5232, as NIB, has had maybe a full box shot through it. Have all original paperwork, fired case, lock, box serial #'s to gun, slight turn ring around cylinder.

The thing is, I really don't want to sell it, but I'm looking for the Lipsey's stainless Vaquero version, prefer the 5145 3 3/4", but would consider the 5147 4 5/8". I would gladly consider a trade with my 5232 towards the desired Vaquero. No interest in Bisley's though, at all.

And BTW, don't know if it matters, but I'm not a collector, I'm looking for the Vaquero as one of my primary carry weapons. It will replace a Smith & Wesson 2nd Model Hand Ejector, 14th gun off the production line and still shoots one ragged hole with my handloads or decent "cowboy" ammo. I'm not getting rid of the Smith, just want to give the old gentleman some rest before my son eventually inherits him.

Much obliged Gents, if anyone has one of the Vaquero's and would like to make a trade work, just PM me.

If I understand what you're saying, the issue that Mass has with the gun is that it was a limited edition Lipsey's special and not a cataloged Ruger item? If that is the case, what will they think of the 5232 since it was also a Lipsey's Special Edition? Ruger may be showing it in their catalog now, but back in 2009 it was in Lipsey's catalog as their exclusive, all 1654 of them.

Just wonderin', as my own 5232 came from Lipsey's, it has their paperwork inside the box and I ran the serial # through their service to get a certificate of authenticity.

Ruger model 5232 .44 special is listed as Massachusetts compliant. It and model 5233 are the only two .44 special revolvers that are regarded as legal to sell and purchase.

Remember, the maddening thing about this whole issue is the seemingly random and arbitrary nature of the issue. TWO revolvers I bought in August and eraly September, a Williams 5.5" .45 colt/.45acp convertible and a Lipsey's birds head short barreled Bearcat, revolvers I love and are both sleeping in my safe at the moment, are NOW not on the compliance list!!!

If you'd like a look at the compliance list for what is now approved in Massachusetts just google Massachusetts Compliance List and you'll get access to it (also other lists, such as high capacity magazines, etc).

All the approved models are in alphabetical order by company, so remember to look under STURM RUGER to get to the approved models.

So, the quixotic nature of the folks on Beacon Hill means we should jump on this PDQ before someone there has a dream and decides to put out a NEW list banning our precious little 5232!!!

It would obviously be great if you could send some photos to give me an idea of the condition (unless you said it was NIB? I can't remember) and details about how much $$ you'd sell it for. I would appreciate it if you could send this info to my email, it just keeps things tidier for me. My email address is as follows:

[email protected]

I look forward to hearing from you sometime in the near future.

Many Thanks - Marc (Adam12)

Brian, I'm not gay but I gotta say you're my knight in shining armor! Please do so and subtract it from the 15K of mine you've got.

And I'll follow through with a pm. Just hope I don't send it to myself! I've been typing all day trying to explain how f**ked up Massachusetts is getting and I'm tired, man.

Best Regards - Marc
