Just finished putting a 44 Mag carbine trigger group back together and it was no fun. As some of you know installing the hammer is a real pain in the you know what. I had the safety installed properly and it worked fine. When I finally got he whole group together and cocked the hammer the safety would not go back on safety. Just read a post from 2017 about installing a Williams big head safety. Is there a way to remove the safety and reinstall it without having to tear the whole trigger group apart? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Would sure hate to have to try and reassemble everything again.

I just watched a video of replacing a 10-22 safety with an after market one that had levers on it. They rotated the safety a 1/4 turn and pushed the new one through behind the old one. When I installed the safety in the 44's trigger group, that is what I did, install the plunger and rotate the safety, it slipped in and worked perfectly. Can not explain why it will not work properly now. It will move far enough towards the safe side that it will not trip the hammer when the trigger is pulled, but does not move to where it is flush with the housing like it should be. I cannot get it to rotate to try and remove it and reinstall. Probably going to have to tear the whole darn thing apart again. Those hammer springs are a real pain to deal with. By the way, Thanks for the bump.

Reminded me. When I got my Deerstalker a couple years ago I was looking at vids of disassembly and assembly and came across a guy who knew his stuff about everything about these classics. I just did a quick search but didn't find it yet but likely will. In the mean time. Check this out maybe this can get yours right.

Found him but only see a disassembly vid. Maybe itll give you a clue on putting it back right. Good luck
