Probably been ask before...Has anybody, either Ruger or aftermarket, tried to make a clip capable of holding more rounds? Seems like a carbine with a 10-20rd. clip would make a formidable home defense weapon. Kinda defeats the "woods deer gun" thing, I understand. 'Jus wonderin'.....

The Deerfield 44 carbine has a detachable rotary magazine. Is that the gun you are talking about? Yes there was a guy out of Australia that married a Desert Eagle 8-shot magazine to the Ruger rotary magazine to give 8-shot capability to the gun. It could also be done to the 96/44 lever-action rifle.

Unfortunately there are no magazines available at this time. Perhaps a talented person could make some up in their garage?

yes, Jimbo, that is the gun. I really "sorta" thought someone or "Ruger et al" would have made a high capacity mag. for this gun. Why not?

It's a hunting gun, at least, that's what Ruger produced and marketed as. Never seen a hunting gun that came with a mag bigger than 4 or 5 rounds....

I can't seem to find the right search phrase, but as mentioned some fellow married a Desert Eagle stick magazine to a Ruger rotary and came up with an 8 or 10 rounder. I've seen it on You Tube. Seems fairly easy to do. My reason for not bothering is that the cheapest DE magazines are about $30.00 and being the cheap and obsessive sort when it comes to losing brass I tend to single load my 96 anyway.

The 99/44 and 96 use slightly different magazines but the modification supposedly works with each.

Basically, he gutted the factory mag, cut a slot in the bottom for the DEagle mag and glued it in place after getting it set at the correct height. Needless to say, he did a bunch of measuring so the slot would be positioned correctly, fore/aft.
