Ruger #3 44 Mag Value?

Unfortunately I don't have a good idea on current value as these are pretty rare and they very infrequently come up for sale. Most have very plain wood but some have nicely figured stocks which will affect value…
Basic no 3s in the more common calibers seem to sell for around $1,000 so that could be used as a baseline - If I were to list my 44 mag for sale I’m thinking in the $1,600 range. Others may have a better idea on this.

The best way to get a fairly good idea about values would be the advanced search on GunBroker,, in the completed auctions section.
After that,, the Blue Book of gun values can offer insight.

put it out there for top dollar, , you can always come down if you have to ,or want to...its worth what some one is willing to pay for it, and this reflects on the "pucker factor"....I sold all of mine years ago to Doris C., when she started to collect them ,and for a LOT, LOT less that the prices seen today, and I have never looked back, same for all my NO 1 and the vast majority of my Red Labels, same thing..oh well..
GB Completed Sales,,, there are Zer0, I like to watch for them. There haven't been any offered up for quite some time.
With that all said,,, it does seem they do get offered up in waves.
My opinion, when some see a gun sold at what is considered a "crazy price" then others want in.
I paid $850 for my LNIB/ keeper in 2012.
I bought several No. 1's when they were offered in 2017 ~$1350, since then I have sold a few @ $2k, currently there bringing $2200-$2700.
There were a lot more No.1's built vs No.3's,,, and they are not making 3's in any caliber any more.
True 3 is not the quality of a 1.
The 3 has a 22" barrel vs 20" barrel on the 1.
I actually prefer the 3 over the 1.
The 1 is one short stout firearm, has a heft to it.
The 3 has better balance and lighter.
Not knocking the 1, just preference,,, mine.

G2 thank you for posting that older thread/info on the 44 mag. I was aware of the serial number search but had totally missed your work on tracking the auctions and pricing.
I had accumulated no 3s in the different calibers and different configurations (early 45/70 non drilled and tapped; non slotted lever pin screws, etc and common modifications such as k hornet etc) over the years but general collector interest just wasn’t there- looks like that may be changing.

Blue Book is a very crude evaluation at best. Internet made Blue Book obselete. Chk completed auctions on GB an see for yourself.
And after making that comment, remember there is commission that comes out of GB sales also

Thanks guys for all your info... I've always preferred the Number 3s simple lines over the fancier Number 1, and liked that the #3s used to sell for a lot less, back in the day! I haven't decided if I'm gonna sell it yet, I've had such a very long time, but have actually shot it so very little... Plus I've got another #3 I've had rebarreled to .454 Casull a few decades ago when I was obsessed with with a that cartridge... But I'm older now and have been slowly thinning the herd for quite some time...
