I am thinking about getting a Ruger .22/45 model #10107. I would like to put a Red Dot scope on it for 25yd to 50yd shooting.

Can someone tell me what I would need for this project? Thanks in advance for any help offered. :)

The new models come tapped and with a weaver style rail you can install... So your read dot should just need to fit on that....

since you will need a red dot optic for a pistol with 'extreme' eye relief, I suspect it will be designed to fit the weaver style rail that comes with the 22/45.

the fiber optic sights that come with these pistols are really really nice... I'd shoot it with them first.

First, I'm not a scope expert. But, I do own a 22/45 5 1/2 inch SS with a red dot scope. My target shooting is pretty much limited to my Club indoor 50 foot max range. I was interested like you in purchasing a scope for this range and my gun shop recommended a red dot scope. I purchased a Bushnell Trophy model 73-0135 and have been very satisfied with it's use at my range. IMO, the 25 yard to 50 yard range may while be outside the effective use of a red dot scope. I believe a power scope would meet your needs more, so please consider a 2 or 3 power scope.

Hope this information helps!

Thanks for your advice gentlemen. I do plan on shooting it out of the box first after cleaning and lubing it. I'll have to check out the Bushnell too.

Cheers,Baldy
