Can anybody tell me the difference between a Ruger 1A, 1B and 1AB?

1A - 22" light contour barrel with sights, narrow short forend with front sling swivel on the barrel

1B - 26" medium contour barrel with no sights, large beavertail forend that is flat on the bottom. Front sling swivel is in the stock.

1AB - B forend, A barrel with no sights.

I really love the 1A, hate the looks of the 1B, but curiously I have my eyes on a 1AB. How can that happen?

A walk on the wild side? Youthful indiscretion? I don't know how this can happen, but it has happened to me too. In one case, it was a collectible, non-prefix rifle, since gone to another owner. In the other case, it was a 223, that now wears a 1A fore end and looks sexy rather than dumpy.
