Rolling Thunder may be making their last ride this May due to cost concerns. Hope someone with deep pockets comes forward to help.

I don’t understand the cost part. One million riders chip in $.50 to cover the $200,000 clean up costs.

Priorities.

Similarly, we've had a huge Toy Run for many years. 3000+ motorcycles, taking toys to the local childrens hospital, as well as a tremendous amount of cash money.

It disrupted Saturday morning traffic for a half hour, once a year, and did require police presence.

The big city said they could no longer afford the police presence, and would no longer allow the huge procession thru town, and everybody would now be on their own, going around the city with no more than 200 motorcycles actually riding to the hospital. It has mostly shut down this great event.

But...They will continue to host the Bridge Pedal, a bicycle event which shuts down many of the bridges in Portland, and they will continue to host the Naked Bike Ride, which shuts down much of the city for many hours.

Go figure.
