I like to drop the lower part of the trigger guard.I read to do so hammer back(pin) the hammer strut and let the hammer down.I see 5 screws 3 on the bottom 2 behind the trigger (left one has a spring)
will the lower half drop out with out any problems.I would like to clean it up not strip the internal just oil and clean and reassembly
WILL I RUN INTO ANY PROBLEMS?

As long as you captured the hammer/strut spring there will be no flying parts.

That little spring you see in the rear has a little plunger on the other end that rides on the rear of the Pawl. Try not to kink it when re-installing the Grip Frame.

Yep a good idea to drop it, clean & lube and avoid crap like this.

FYI...The only other spring is the cylinder latch spring and to keep it from flying, unload it; Take a small screwdriver and push the right side down, you will see a little leg on a angle proruding into the side of the cylinder frame, slip it out and off then your good to go removing the screw that holds that assembly in place. Reverse to re-install.

The other screw just holds the trigger, and the bigger screw holds the Hammer/Pawl assembly.

It's all real simple should you decide to gut it. :D

Do not try to remove the two back screws before loosening the bottom screws.
Removing the back screws first will leave tiny scratches in the screw holes in the gripframe.

Also, Ruger has videos posted for the Old Army's, under tech tips on their video page.

Easy drop out just got done with it a little dirty but no deep pitts or rust.
I only had a little problem with the Pawl Plunger the spring part ;I was looking for a small hole on the rear frame part above the screw hole but it only sit flush againg the trigger housing plate.
cleaned and oiled and ready to go
