I have a Charger exactly like WAYNO's and I love it... Aesthetically it's not anything to howl at the moon about, but it's a bucket of fun to shoot, and is quite accurate! I'll be VERY interested in the Model 4917 if it's a reality. I really don't have the need for a take down, and the extra ~100 bucks would be better spent on ammo, scope or extra magazines IMO. ;)

Just when I thought the rumored GP-100 10 shot would be my last .22 pistol, Ruger pulls me back in.

Is this new or just an Internet rumor though?

My mind has the same question.

But this is a pretty official looking and pretty informative couple of specs sheets. This would have been a lot of work if it is bogus.

Time will tell.

WAYNO.

Listening to gun talk this last Sunday, it sounded like he said he had just gotten some Chargers in for review.

Looks good to me! I like interchangeability with AR grips too. It would look/feel good with a Magpul MIAD.

I like it, I just wonder why the magazine is so long for five more rounds?
Because the Ruger 10rd is a rotary, that is the reason for its short length. Anything with more capacity has to be a regular staggered stick mag.

Why not a full laminate instead of the plastic grip? Understand the take-down, and I suppose different enough from the original to be of interest. Of course reason is cheaper to produce, but not a very pleasing to my eye.
Not just a plastic grip but a removable AR grip. I don't see it saving any money in manufacturing but it does offer the flexibility of changing to any available AR pistol grip.

Received my notice from Ruger about this. Looks like they added it to their site.

A tid bit of info I got when I placed my order for one of each. The takedown barrel will snap right on any takedown 10/22. So I can assume the same could be said for the reciver

It would be awesome if ruger decided to build an american rimfire version, or bolt action charger. That way the guys in the anti gun states could own one. The only problem is im not sure it would fly in NY because of the 50 ounce weight limit on pistols.

Guys
Help me understand this gun. Its not a pistol, its not a rifle. Its not as easy to shoot as a rifle – because you can only use 2 hands. /quote]
Umm how many hands do you usually use to shoot? :p

I just bought one of the takedown models and it should be here next week.........won't be able to shoot it for awhile but I'll post pictures once it gets here. I don't know anything about Chargers but do have a couple of 10/22 takedowns that I love. So I just had to have this model to add something different to my small little collection. Think it will be great fun at my indoor range which maxes out at 25 yards. :D
