I've been called to repentance. Callshot and 2dogs have asked where I've been and why I've not posted in a while. I'll blame it on sixshot, it really is all his fault, all my free time is used eating all the really yummy stuff him and Ruthann are always bringing over. So here is a post which I hope will last for another great spell, before being called to repentance again.
I"ve been spending my time with the kids. We just got back from visiting my brother in Mesquite NV. 13 great days in the desert with temps as high as 90. We left Soda Springs with 2 feet of snow between my house and Dick's with the temp at 22 degrees and snowing so it was heaven for us to get away. We shot .22's, shot guns, and muzzleloaders. Spent a fortune on Tannerite and gas for the 4 wheelers and motorcylcles. Spent 3 days swimming in a pool which the locals thought it was too cold. The hardest thing about the Mesquite or Vegas is when you turn on the tap water it never gets cold. The tap water this morning in Soda is colder than ice water, it amazes me why its not frozen solid when it comes out. I love rinsing with this water after brushing my teeth, I can feel every one of those cavaties.
Since we've been back we've been chasing Turkeys. Friday my oldest passed up 16 jakes wanting a long beard. Hunting Turkeys out here is a little different than in the midwest or back east. The vegetation is usually big sage brush or thick timber stands of Doug-Fir. I don't know if its any easier or harder than back east its just different which sometimes involves long miles up the side of a steep mountin and snowshoes. Saterday we spent 14 hours hunting, hiked about 7 miles and climbed about 1500 feet in elevation. Just to watch 4 turkeys fly over the top of us and land about 3 miles from where we stood. If I'd know the the future I'd help him pull the trigger Friday on a jake, because Sunday my legs felt like jello.
Since I don't have the internet at home or television I usually tinker, reload, sew some leather, wood work, read a book, or recenlty work a horn.
