Remodeling - does it end?!

Spent the entire weekend and today off from work to finish up after flooring installed in two rooms.
Fresh enough paint was in one room but the master bedroom needed paint bad, at least I've finished the walls but still need to paint the baseboards when I can this week in the evenings if I can!

Does it every end? Last year was a roof, then paint on exterior. Feels like its perpetual right now but hope to see the light at end of tunnel soon. Missing my Sundays at the range during all this, we had the other two rooms refloored last month, hope you guys are getting out!
 
Think of your house as a 2 year old kid that will never grown up.

I never miss a day at the range for the building because maintaining the building will never end. :)

Saltwater or Ancient City ?

Gateway. Have a friend from way back that I started going with for the past couple of years, he's had a membership since the 70's. I do want to check out Ancient City one of these days.

I go to Gateway every Saturday and the Gun Gallery during the week.

Belonged to Ancient City when it first open, but the traffic got so bad gave up, plus he doesn't always open on time or regular.

I used the pistol palace at Gateway (25/50 yard) line usually have all to myself. :)
 
THOUGHT I'd get to enjoy retirement, especially after the wife retired (I am fully, permanently disabled), but NO, the "honey do list keeps getting longer!
 
Well, I have to wait until the rainy season comes to an end, then see about a new roof for the house and one of my sheds. The smaller shed I did myself about 20 years ago and it's still going strong. The big shed lost everything in a big blow and now is just unsealed wood. House has had the roof done twice since we moved in back in 1979. If I wasn't so darn bunged up, I'd do the roofs myself, the same way I did the small shed. It was a lot of work done in the mid summer. It surprised me surviving as swell as I has. Hope I didn't jinx it by my comments.

It's ends when you no longer want to fix or remodel.
I do get a kick out of some I know who will not fix or remodel anything until it really fails, like after 20 years of zero cleaning or upkeep on a roof they complain that after removing all the moss they need a new roof. Or not repainting the sliding ever and find out they need new sliding after about 30 years.

Borrow rent or steal an air nailer - makes the job so much easier (and faster). I did that on our first house single story 1 chimney, no valleys or special tricks needed. Our current house we had the pros do - 2 story 12/12 pitch on part of it 3 different elevations. Even the installers were complaining about the pitch and wondering why the boss took the job since he usually didn't do 2 story. Had to explain the owner was the wife's cousin. Speed and quality of job picked up after that....
 
After buying, remodeling and selling a couple of "fixer-uppers" which consumed ALL of my time and money, I learned a new philosophy - Never Do Today What You Can Put Off Until Tomorrow. I got out of the real estate bidness really fast and today I have plenty of time to myself and enough money and a lot fewer headaches.

Go to the range or go fishing. The painting can wait.

We were going every Sunday between 8 and 8:30, then skipped some in January and following that my buddy got sick bad for a few weeks. Then I got busy with this remodel.

Got first coat of paint on baseboards/new quarter rounds done with the new floors in master. Hope to finish that tomorrow and be done with at least that room this week before weekend and get back to the range!

I'll have to add to the comments, I did do a bit of this to myself. Last March after we had finished the exterior year prior the misses said, "hey lets replace that carpet in the rooms as we had planned". I said, heck no, its fishing season and I put it off till it caught up with me now... A few other variables added to the delay but once we have our master bedroom back I can slow down and play more.

I dont know what they were complaining about being a 12 pitch is a lot easier on your body being you are standing on 2x4 roof brackets not kneeling

I can help. Disability comes from a twice broken kneecap and chronic heart failure. Took me almost a year to re-learn to walk! ER & ICU 2-3 times each year for the last 2-3 years.

Just took out the existing pantry and replaced it. Remodeled downstair bathroom-wife did tiling and painting.

I bet you are on a different list too! With all of the time I spend at the local hardware store I end up helping other customers better than some of the paid employees

A new regimen and I felt fine until I came down with COVID 2 weeks ago. Still recovering. Watching my glucose, monitoring BP and reducing sodium in my diet (eating better in general), losing weight (20 lbs so far) and we were going to the gym 3x a week. I was feeling great and my cardiologist wants to see me every 6 months instead of every 2.

sounds like your heart was not that bad. did they put stents in?

No, I had a temp. pacemaker put in to stabilize it. Not a lot of fun even with a local! My left ventricle is screwed up and my aortic valve leaks a little but my ejection fraction is still 60% or more. My primary issue was pulmonary edema from the heart being weak. A couple of terms at Cardio/Pulmonary Rehab helped a lot. Trying to do the same via Planet Fitness, as I said.
