Have not had occasion to look at many of the "new" Marlins. I purchased a Marlin Guide Gun in 45/70 back when they were first introduced...... and I dearly love to shoot it......and yes, it hits like the Hammer of God!
Reading your review is gonna cause me to take another look at the Remlins. Thanks.

I own a "Remlin" 1895G, and don't have a single negative thing to say about it. It is an excellent rifle in all regards. It even has nice wood!

My dad started hunting with a JM Marlin 1895 in 45/70 about 15 years ago. As a teenager, that thing terrified me. I didn't understand what the draw was. Fast forward a couple years and it all makes. Nothing like a 45 caliber hole punch.

Did they do away with the miro groove barrels?

Under Marlin Firearms it shows: 22" barrel with deep-cut Ballard-type rifling (6 grooves)
Much nicer looking rifle that I have from the 90's. Beautiful wood. I wonder if they are all like that.

I bought the 1895 Guide Gun .45-70 in stainless steel a few years ago.
Trigger is a bit heavy but it looks good for a new Remlin and shoots very well.

The shop had 6 in stock so I looked at all of them and picked the best.
No problems with it yet.
