Just curious if anybody has a Remington R1 & what they think of it. Had any issues? I love mine. They did a nice job of keeping the military look but with some refinements.

Don't have one, but I've shot them ... they're good guns ... like almost all 1911's.

I had one but sold it when I got the SR 1911. Loved it and didn't have any problems out of it. Wish I could have held on to both but...

I have one and am very happy with it, bought it because I couldnt find a SR1911. Still havnt seen an SR1911 in a gun shop yet!

Edirty692, It's been a very good pistol for me too!

I have one. Very nice gun. Well built, nice finish and very accurate.

I wanted a very traditional looking 1911. Now that I have had it for a while I am considering a more modern looking trigger and hammer.

I bought one after every gun shop told me I wouldn't get a Ruger any time soon. It has been working great and had some issues with feed ing but is breaking in fine.

We re up to 5. Not bad this is the ruger forum after all. I'm glad nobody has anything bad to say about the R1. If anybody does any mods to their R1 I'd love to hear about it. Ed

I have one and run a few thousand through it with no (real) issues. The rear sight came loose. A .050 allen wrench some blue loctite was the fix.

My son just got one - 450 rounds downrange so far and not a bobble. It is a high quality, American made gun. I think the scarcity of Ruger 1911s is selling a lot of R1s.

I saw the R1 stainless today and am thinking I might not be able to wait the SR1911 out and have to get one......
Looks like a nice rig.

I don't think you'll be disappointed by the R1. Ruger needs to get their ducks in a row and satisfy the demand for the sr1911 or Remington is going to sell a lot of R1's. They are both nice guns priced right. Ed

I don't own one, but we sell them where I work. Seem to be a well made gun.

I agree, I walked into 3 dealers today and called 4 more....Was told distrubuters are not even taking orders right now.

My local guy just got one in , said distributors now have them alloted. Never owned or shot one but tried the trigger.... Was not impressed with it. Heavy and creepy.

I have the SR and the R1 . . . both great guns.

I think Ruger should have used a higher quality finish on the barrel. My crown is rough but shoots great. I think Ruger's decision to incorporate the plunger tube into the frame casting is a great improvement.

On the R1 the thumb safety is the worse I have seen in a while. Very rough and uncomfortable to use. The barrel bushing fit is very good, so tight you either have to push the slide back or use the wrench.

I run Kimber mags in both with no issues. I never even loaded the factory mags on either one.

Just had a problem with the Kimber mags. They will not realiably load hollow points if the mag is loaded to 8 rounds. The round jams against the feed ramp on the R1. Used the factory mags and no issues.

I have a new one in my safe been there for several months haven't shot it yet.

My wife got me one on my birthday when I was 58. So I have had it about 15 months. I think of my 1911s as fighting guns so I did what I do with all of the ones I own. I put on a flat MSH with a lanyard ring, a wide spur hammer, an a 1918 style short trigger. Other folks and manufacturers try to make the 1911s something they were not designed to be.

Marketing is responsible for "this one is better than that one" ford v chevy stuff. A bare-bones RIA, Remington R1, Taurus 1911, Colt, Kimber, etc. will all do what ole John B designed then to do. By the way, I have more than 10 thousand rounds thru my Taurus PT 1911.

Only thing I don't like about the Remington is the sights. Otherwise, they look like a real nice 1911.

I bought one last year - sold it. Bought another one this year - sold it. Nothing wrong with either gun (both looked good and performed flawlessly). I just decided that I'm not a fan of 1911's. Replaced the second one with a Glock 21 and am thrilled with this gun. I shoot it very well and it performs as it should. Had it out today and came home smiling.

Ipurchased a R1S a few months ago, I don't have any complaints, great 1911. I also picked up a Ruger SR1911 and was so unhappy I sold it, Slide to frame fit was very loose, and there were other problems that as with the slide / frame fit were not going to get better with use, only worse. I feel Ruger is pushing out guns faster and faster to keep up with shooters. Very little QC. Maybe in a year or two they will slow down and get these guns right.

FYI .... tight ..... or loose .... doesn't equate to good .... or bad.

Colts generally rattle a bit, but they generally shoot great.

There's a lot more than 'tightness' that makes a given 1911 good.
