The gun illustrated was a .44, not a .45. It makes a difference. A lot of the value is based on condition, condition and also condition. Also, does it have the box and all accessories, just as it left the factory?

Of course, how does the "gotta have it right now" factor play into it?

The cheapest I've heard of lately is a 5 1/2" .45 I got from a shop with rubber aftermarket grips for $436 out the door. Seems like I paid $25 for a set of factory grips and Ruger sent (for free) a dissassembly pin and grip locator to give me a total cost of $461. Interestingly enough, this gun came with a custom made IWB holster (which I assign no value to)!

A few months ago another local shop had what appeared from the online photos to be a like new .45 5 1/2" for $499 (no box). With local tax, that would put it at $544 out the door. This gun was gone really quick. Of course from a collector's standpoint, this was a better deal simply because mine could not be mistaken for like new.

Whether you plan on shooting it or not, a gun in the box with all accessories adds value and a collector wants NIB. Would a NIB gun in .45 be worth the $750? Yes, if it's worth it to you. However, if you stay alert you could find a shooter for a lot less if you are patient. Robert

If you ever kind find a new one (5.5") I'm guessing it will set you back $750 at least. I doubt they'll ever make one again so they are hard to find. The one shown above, in 44 I listed for half a day and it was bought on GB for $795 shipped!

There has been a 5.5" 45 Colt at my local shop for awhile but it may be gone now. It was listed for $599.00.

I bought mine, like new, no box for $425 two years ago and havent seen one since here in town.

Well I decided to get the one I saw in a local shop. Not perfect, but pretty good. Came with the plastic case, manual, lock, and a few extra Wolff springs. The left grip panel is dinged up either from a speed loader or from ejectiong empties. Ended up at about $450 total with taxes, etc. I think I'm pleased with that price, been looking for a 5.5 inch one for awhile that I could afford.

SCORE!

Easy clean up of any scratches and the grip dings are honest. New grips or live with it?

I'd have to say you stole that sucker. I wouldn't have hesitated a minute at that price.

Here's one for sale at Eielson AFB, $475.00. I don't know the guy or the gun.
