Red or Black MKII baseplate logos?

I have some MKII mags with Red logos on the baseplate while others are black. Can anyone tell me when they switched them or if one is correct for certain model, era of pistols, etc? Curious.

I think the Red ones might go to the 50th Ann pistol.

I had a Lipseys that came with the reds too. I have a 1984 MKII 6 7/8 that came with 1 mag so I have been buying them up when I see them. I didnt notice that I had more than 2 reds until after I sold my Lipseys. I have 2 and was just curious if they were special. Thanks

I remember them changing to the red in 1999..
At the end of 2009 they started being all Black with no silver with the Logo being upside down compared to the older ones & the SR is now just an R..
Just something I've noticed, also they started changing the button on them too, first they got a bit bigger then later started being a larger diameter with a flatter button with rings..
I feel lucky to have three Black/Silver Pre 1999 MKII magazines for my 1986 KMK678 that are period correct, It only came with one & have found two in the last ten months for it..

I did not know the red background logo magazines were somewhat common. I need a good one to put in my MK II plastic pistol box. Where can I find one for sale?

SHUCKS....I have MKII magazines with four different baseplate logos.

Yes...red background medallions in the grips and magazine baseplate began with the 50th anniversary Mark II MK4-50 in 1999. When 2000 got here Ruger was putting them in every model .22 auto, grip and base plate.
Ruger quit using red background medallions in their magazines a year or two after Mark III production began.

New mags just have the logo molded into the black plastic baseplate. No longer a separate piece, no color.
