I don't own one yet but have been on the lookout for one at a good price. I own several other Redhawks though, and I would not hunt with a handgun with a 4" barrel. It is illegal around here to do so, but mostly, it's just putting yourself at a disadvantage for a difficult shot (short sight radius, lower velocity, etc.). I also don't see what having the ability to shoot .45 ACP offers you in a hunting situation.
I understand there was a run several years ago of Redhawk Hunters (with the scope ring cutouts) in .45 Colt, and think that they would better fulfill your hunting needs.
