I have a lot of Red Dot on hand because I have found it to be a good powder for the loads I prefer shoot in my .38 special snubbie (3.5 grains under a 148 gr cast DEWC) and .357 (5 grains under a 158 grain cast RNFP). I want to use it in my .44 special and be able to run a cast 240 g RNFP at @ 900--950 FPS. Does anyone here use this powder in their .44s? Would you be averse to sharing your load data?

Thanks.

Alliant data for the .44sp. Stops at 200 gr. bullets with RedDot. That is not to say it won't work with heavier bullets though. I shoot Red dot in both the .45 Colt and .45 ACP under 230 gr. cast bullets at 6gr.

It took me a while to find it again. Read the above link. I'm sorry I don't know how to make it a hyper link.

I use 5.3 with a 240 cast. Might be a little slower than what you want be this charge is accurate in mine.

My buddy uses red dot for everything from 9mm to 44/45. Plus shotgun.
It's probably something I should've starting using a long time ago, just never did.

HW11, the link sends me to a "Page not Found", unfortunately. Do you have the name of the article I could google?

Here it is again. If I click on the one in the above post it takes me to the page.
If it doesn't work this time google Guns & Ammo, reloading the 44 special. The article was April 3, 2011.

.44Special. I tested 4.5g (800fps, 37 ES, 15 shots) to 6.0g (950fps, 21 ES, 15 shots) of Red Dot under 240g SWC. CCI-300 primers. My test gun 5 1/2" Ruger flattop liked them all. Haven't found a caliber yet that doesn't like Red Dot. Obviously it isn't for 'heavy' loads which suits me. It is my go to powder for .357 for pushing a 158g SWC around 1000fps. Unique, Universal, 20/28 are my goto powders for .44 Spec and .44Mag so try to keep plenty available.

Using Red Dot (RD), WLP primers and a 245 grain gas checked SWC bullet in my 5.5" Ruger NMFT, I get 930 fps with 6.0 grains and 985 fps with 6.5 grains of RD. Happy to share -- use at your own risk.

Thanks, folks. I appreciate the information and the links to the article.
