for those of you that have experience with the above pistols...

Which one would you recommend and why ?

As I currently own a P90 and several Ruger revolvers, I figure it's time for another caliber.

Use will be target and possible carry. My carry guns now are either the P90 or a 3" GP100.

Thanks for your input.

This.

I wanted a P95 for years but never got one. Finally was going to get around to buying one then got side tracked by the .40 and bought a KP944 which I love. Put off buying the P95 a while longer and just as I was ready to finally buy it they came out with the SR9c. So I bought it and no longer feel the need to have a P95. The P95 is the same size as the P944 but a bit lighter since its polymer. The SR9c is lighter, much thinner, shorter barrel, and much shorter grip. Better if you decide to carry and I love the way it shoots.

I have owned 2 P95's. Bought one. Loved it. Sold it. Missed it. Bought another. Eventually traded it for something. When the SR9 came out I loved it. Then the c came out and had to have one. I would say go for the SR9c. I know you did not mention it as a option. But I think you would really like it. If not, the SR9 then. Better feeling grip. Better fit. 2 more rounds. Lighter. Much better trigger. Let us know what you get.

This is an opinion based on assumption only but since the SR line came out I bet the P line will be discontinued soon.

No real help I know.

Good luck.

I had an older P95, it was made before they moved to Arizona; and I loved it. It shot flawlessly, never had a jam or misfeed, or issue of any kind. When the SR9 came out I just had to have one, it took a couple of years but did finally buy one. Its a great gun also, feels a little better in my hand, shots flawlessly so far and it holds 7 more rounds. (I ended up selling my P95 to make my wife happy, but really wish I had them both.) I liked the feel of the P95 trigger a little better because you could feel the entire movement right up to the point of firing. While I like the trigger on the SR9 it is just not the same.
I think it comes down to preference between the striker fire and the open hammer, which I am still up in the air on. In my book they are both top notch handguns for what they cost. I would try and find a range that rents both and try them both out. If at all possible try them both first if you can. In my mind it comes down to personal preference.

When I bought my P95, it also came down to either a P95 or SR9. After handing both at the gun shop, both me and my wife liked the way the p95 felt better. It just seems to fit my hand better than the SR9... So thats the one I got. I havent regretted it yet.

So my best advice would be to handle both, and see which fits you better....

Since you already have the p90 you might as well try the sr9. I personally like the P series guns better than any striker fired guns, but I'm sure the sr9 has more of a future.

Been carrying P95 for almost a year now have not had one problem with it. Carry it 24 7on duty as security officer and ccw peice will last for ever.last weapon lasted only 25 years finley wore it out. Could not find another. If it has no hammer, just dont like striker fire weapons last ,weapon was a 9mm colt bought new in 84.

SR9 or SR9c in my book. The ergonomics are better than those of the P95 and will conceal better, much more so if you get an SR9c. Any of the Ruger 9mm's are solid, reliable guns. If the ability to conceal is greater a concern, I'd go with the SR9(c).

I like a striker powered gun, the light weight yet full ergonomic feel, and all of the safety features of the SR9. I looked at the P series prior to looking at the SR series. I preffered the feel of the consistent striker trigger then a DA/SA or a long DAO gun. I liked that the SR assemblies are all contained in the slide as opposed to an exterior hammer. I loved the ease and bulk break down of the SR field strip... makes a general cleaning a breeze. I much prefer the SR series. But there are many here who much prefer the P series.

I have both the SR9 and P95 and I love both of them. I use the SR9 for my daily carry as I feel it is easier to conceal. I have no qualms on carrying the P95, it's just a tad bulkier. All in all, either one is an excellent choice IMHO.

I have owned both, no longer own either. However, if I were to buy another, it would be the P95. I just prefer the external hammer to the SR9 striker fired type pistol. The P95 is one of the most durable and easiest maintained pistols around, just a little on the thick side. Again, personal preference.

thanks for the feedback...

after reading the comments and checking both out at a gunshop, I got the P95 in stainless...

I liked the SR9 for the grip and width, but as with others... like the hammer and decocker better (I'm used to on the P90 - which I can conceal)... and the 95 does not have that lovely loaded chamber indicator...

call me old school but I guess I just prefer the non-lawyerized P-Series...

You couldn't have gone wrong either way. I have owned both..I recently got rid of the SR9, an early model with two trips to Ruger before they got it right.

I still have the P95..or should I say my wife has it. Simple to operate, goes bang every time and most importantly she is able to rack the slide. I spent three days shooting a friends SR9c and let me tell you Ruger has one of the best,if not the best pistol in that price range. I currently carry a Glock19 but will soon be replacing it with an SR9c. Wow, great trigger.

Congratulations..did you get the blued or stainless model?

Good Shooting,
Mark
