I sent a letter to Ruger asking what would be the cost and how did I need to send my old model Single Six to them for a re-blue. I received a reply just a minute ago. I was very surprised at the answer.
"Good morning Frank,
Unfortunately we do not offer refinishing services on any of the old model revolvers. If you have any further questions please call us at 336-949-5200. We are open Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm eastern standard time.
Thank you
Ruger Customer Service"

I m picking up my barrel from the gunsmith on Friday ad am planning on asking if does blueing . He is about a 20 minute drive and no shipping worries if he can oblige

Not really surprised. Everything we grew to love about the service seems gone.
Ruger has cut models and services to try and fix a sagging balance sheet.
Wall Street Journal said Ruger and Beretta are at the negotiation table, try to hammer out a deal before the Proxy vote.
I'm afraid Ruger knows if it comes to vote, Beretta will win.

Yeah, I wouldn't think somebody wanting Ruger to do a $300 reblue is looking for a +$1000 Turnbull bill. Best to have a gunsmith do all the prep work and send it to Turnbull but still expect $500-$800 in finish work.

I don’t need any parts. Are you just being an ass or what???
They don't work on them, at all, period. That should have been clear. No exceptions if YOU say it doesn't need parts. When Ruger ships a gun back, whatever condition it's in, they own it. If THEY find it needs parts they don't have, what happens next? I'm not being an ass, I'm actually engaging my brain.

This from Ruger’s site may get some answers ……

GYJ44,, there are a few other posts here,, where VERY recently,, Ruger did do a reblue of OM guns.

I agree with hittman,, call & ask directly. Plus,, it sometimes pays to just ask for a senior customer service person.

Old Model yes, Security Six no.

"Old Model yes, Security Six no."

Well, the OP was talking about a Single-Six,, NOT a Security-Six.
Did you read the thread? The person I was responding to was talking about a Security Six.

I agree, that’s discouraging. I was within a month of encouraging my brother in law to send in his Security Six.
