Re-converting to original Old Model

Just bought an old model Single Six that has the transfer bar conversion. It comes with all the original parts. How difficult is it to restore to unconverted state? Does this require a competent gunsmith? or are there self help videos available?

Actually, it's not a hard job on an OM to return it to it's original condition. It's a basic disassembly, and reassembly with the correct parts. I'm not sure of videos,, (there probably is one out there,) but any good disassembly/reassembly manuel can show you how.
I use the Gun Digest books a lot for such projects. (It's a set of books with each book focusing on one type of firearms. ie; "Revolvers." )

Go to the Ruger web site and download yourself an owners manual.

Once dis-assembled remove the parts shown in the bottom of this this picture and replace them with the parts shown in the top part.

Note1: The conversion trigger (CK-37) and latch (CK-46) return spring look exactly like the OEM spring, but they are not. They are made from thicker wire stock and are stiffer.
Note 2: The conversion pawl ( CK-7) may or may not time up properly with the old action. Only test assembling it will show which pawl is the better fit.

It is VERY simple to do. Ruger single actions are not complicated in the least.

It's pretty easy to reinstall the original parts, as J Miller said, dont use the new springs stay with the original.
