Re-blue for a Security Six

I've got a Security Six that no one seems interested in trading or purchasing, so I'm gonna dress it up a little. First thing is to give it a new bluing. So where's a place y'all would recommend? I don't want a cheap-o job, but I don't want to pay what the revolver is worth either.

Most of the places we know of, it runs in the $100-125 range, add the cost of shipping ,BACK & FORTH< and this zooms...try a local shop, get references, or ask to "see" their work.....last we heard the factory was in the $125-148 range, and again, the "shipping "...........

You may want to try CCR, Robar, AWS Plating, French's, there's a bunch of bluing shops. Sometimes the factory refinishes too. But, $45 shipping each way via Fedex Overnight adds to the cost.

One thing to consider is a way of making your item stand out. For instance, a real durable finish like Duracoat is not common, and of course NP3 from Robar would be very nice. But, as you say, it gets into the same as the gun is worth or more.
