Is the American Rimfire series strong enough to be chambered in 17 or 22 Hornet? If so, do you guys think Ruger will eventually chamber it in said rounds. Looking for a 17 Hornet, 77/22's are priced to the moon. Cant warm up to the backwards safety on the CZ.

I know where a 77/22 in stainless with a good scope is at for sale. It's 22 LR.

Not sure about if or when Ruger will chamber the RAR in Hornet.

It will have to have it's own hornet length action built. I don't see that coming anytime soon. But if/when Ruger does a 17 Hornet in the American line, I'll be first in line to buy a couple of them.....

I don't believe the American Rimfire has the action length or strength to handle a Hornet in either .22 or .17. The centerfire American could be chambered in either Hornet easily.

With a new intermediate length action, which is so far, unavailable....
Or restrict bolt travel and add a spacer in the magazine. IIRC, that's how Winchester sold "short action" calibers in the pre-64 M70's when they only made one action length.

If ruger does the American, I'd be willing to bet they use the rotary 77-17/22 hornet mags, just like both the LR and maggy little siblings......
