"I got to sneak out on Thursday and play with the RAR for the first time. I had mounted a old Simmons Prohunter 4x12 I had laying around with weaver grandslam high rings and weaver #12 bases. I had done the trigger and it now breaks cleanly at 1.5 pounds. After doing the trigger I purposely tightened the action screws to 20 in/pd.
My range session conditions were between 21 and 25 degrees. the wind was approx. 0-5 mph. I laser ranged the target for 50yds. All groups were shot off the hood of the truck using both a sand bag front and rear rest. Footing was a little icy as there was about 6 inches of snow on the ground.
After my initial sight in I shot groups adjusting the action screw tension 5# per group from the original 20# to the factory recommended 35#. My RAR showed a definite preference when both screws were set at 25# and opened up with each higher setting. Therefore all of the following groups were shot with the action screws torqued to 25#.
All groups were shot at 50yds. with scope set at 10x. 2 five shot groups of each ammo variety were shot. all groups were measured outside to outside of furthest bullets with a dial caliper and .224 was then subtracted from the total.
Winchester Dynapoint .651, .436
CCI Blazer .581, .402
CCI Standard Vel .501, .311

both of these produced a single flier going higher than the rest of the group. Could have been me, the setup or the ammo not sure. both groups were measured not counting high flyer.
There were two other loads shot but both were disappointing
CCI Mini Mag 36gr hp. 1.25+, May be just the lot as this has shot reasonably well in both the CZ 452 American and the Savage Mark II FV in the past.
The other was Federal Auto Match which hovered right at 1" for both groups. I have no prior experience with this ammo, was what the dealer had on hand when I picked up the rifle.
I apologize for the lack of photos as I am out of town now and do not have access to them. Overall I am very happy with this 22" RAR 22lr. It out shoots the Savage FV. Jury still out on if it beats the American, a warm day and a good bench set up will tell the story but it is very close. I will say the RAR beats the American in the shear number of loads it likes.
